| Going to a wedding tomorrow and leaving my babies for the day.. We are off to a friends wedding tomorrow for the day and I have decided to leave my dogs at home where they are safe and comfortable...The venue is about a 45 minute drive away. Basically we live in military accomodation (hubby is RAF) and I just don't know anyone well enough to come in and see to my dogs...my main worry is Pixie of course, my Staffy is very easy to look after..but Pixie is very tiny (3lbs) and i'm just not comfortable with leaving her in anyone elses care..most people are totally oblivious to the needs of a dog this small..we will be leaving about 12.30pm and are planning to be home by 10pm at the latest...I have never left her this long before, she gets left a maximum of 5 hours a day while i'm at work..but I just don't see any way around this right now..I am planning on leaving Pixie in my kitchen..as this is the safest area imo...no wires or things to chew and a tiled floor in case of accidents..I will walk her before leaving and feed her breakfast and some lunch and leave down a bowl of kibble for her to pick at...I might leave a radio on...do you think this is wrong? I feel bad about it.. I do have one friend that could pop in during the afternoon but she has two boys with behaviour issues..they can be very lively and i'm terrified my little Pixie would be stepped on or something...i'm not sure if she would bring them with her if she came round..and of course I really don't want to have to ask her not to! I personally would feel happier knowing they are safe in my home and if someone was coming in to see to them I would be worrying in case something went wrong...do you all understand how I feel about this?

| I completely understand where you're coming from. I think she'll be fine, it's one day and if you go with the plan you have set out, she'll be alright. When you get home though expect an overly excited, hyper pup! I know what you mean about being afraid to have someone come over to check on her! I think she'll be fine!

| I sure do understand. Onni is only 3 pounds and so tiny. I think she will do fine in the kitchen as long as there is nothing for her to chew on or get herself caught up in or on. I would be nervous about having anyone check on her too; especially if they had kids. I worry about Onni even when I am standing right there and someone else picks her up. I leave Onni in her kennel closed up in our bedroom when we leave so none of the other dogs have access to her; but I have never been gone for any longer than 3.5 hours on Sunday morning for church. I also leave the tv on low so she has something to listen to.

| I think she will be OK too, and I understand your apprehension about the rambunctions boys. She will probably sleep a lot, and then be sooo happy to see you. Maybe you could leave the TV on softly for her? That way she might feel like someone else was home? |

| If i did that for jsut one day, I think kirby would jsut lay around. When I do leave him for longer periods, like 4 hours..I leave a tv on for noise. I think Kirby would be fine for one day. But I know he would tell be all about his feelings when I got home and mayb eeven be a little stinker for a bit to make sure I got the message.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I have left mine alone for up to 10 hours with nothing they can get hurt on and plenty of safe toys. Of course mine have each other but they are always fine.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think she will be much happier at home and will sleep most of the time. Try and enjoy the wedding. Mine are use to me being home most of the time but recently I had to leave them fir about 8 hours and they were fine, just happy to see me.
