| please help yorkie extreme dry skin hello, can someone please help! my yorkie Sammy has extremely dry skin, almost like dandruff. is their something I can do naturally? I would bring him to the vet but I had major problems with my other dog Alfie he was also a yorkie had the same problem, I brought him to the vet and they prescribed steroids and within one week time he was in the animal hospital with sever pancreatitis, he battled with this for 2 months we end up having to put him down i did research online and i believe this(steroids) was the cause of Alfie getting sick. if I can do something naturally I think that would be best for him. thank you - Cindy |

| yes, my yorkie had flaky skin and i used this and it really helps..i think it is used for lots of other things too but it really did the trick for mine ..only drawback is you have to leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing! |

| You might also try a fatty acid supplement. My older yorkie Gizmo has always battled dry skin, not real bad, but enough that it would make him itchy at certain times of the year. I have been using fatty acids for the last 3 years, and knock on wood, no scratching. We carry Vet Solutions fatty acid supplement at our clinic and that is what I used. I am sure there are others but it sure has worked for me. I just pump a little on his food and mix it up. There are also fatty acid capsules but most of them are too big. I don't think you can really give them too much but it can make their skin smell like fish oil.

| I take my yorkies to a holistic vet - and Bubba has had problems - this is what he prescribed - it is wonderful shampoo - it is Photoclens by Ayuvet from Tomer Labs - you can buy it directly from them natural herbal treatment - tomer laboratories - natural quality herbal remedies -- this shampoo is wonderful - the dogs smell wonderful & their coats are beautiful. Here is what I found about the ingredients oils of Himalayan cedarwood Cedarwood Himalayan Essential Oil, Cedarus Deodora Eucalyptus leaf oil Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Eucalyptus globulus Also, Eucalyptus is suppose to deter fleas The other choice would be to go with a high grade oatmeal or high grade ingredients shampoo & conditioner. These are all great for skin issues and will help improve the coat Nu Sal-T shampoo NEW! Nu-Sal-T Shampoo (12 fl. oz) or this one Relief New! Relief SHAMPOO (12 oz) by DVM Pharmaceuticals and Relief Creme Relief Creme Rinse 12oz
