You might also try a fatty acid supplement. My older yorkie Gizmo has always battled dry skin, not real bad, but enough that it would make him itchy at certain times of the year. I have been using fatty acids for the last 3 years, and knock on wood, no scratching. We carry Vet Solutions fatty acid supplement at our clinic and that is what I used. I am sure there are others but it sure has worked for me. I just pump a little on his food and mix it up. There are also fatty acid capsules but most of them are too big. I don't think you can really give them too much but it can make their skin smell like fish oil. |
