| Am I the ONLY one who.... lets their dogs run outside?!?! Teddy is 5 months old and I have another dog (an Aussiepoo) that is 1 1/2 that if they want out i let them out to run and play! Teddy is also 9 lbs lol.. I do make sure they have water! I also live on 14 acres... maybe thats the difference... I also let my dogs socialize with other dogs EVEN ones that are really big!! There is a great dane and an alaskan malamute (sp?) in our obedience class... I keep close watch on him, but to me my pup is like a child, if I overreacted and fret over them, they will do the same... I don't want a nervous dog.. i have kids!!! I guess I'm just weird! LOL Sorry I had to ask! |

| I dont have 14 acres, but I have a nice sized backyard. I let Bobby play out there when I am close by, I always have an eye on him though. He loves to play out there. I am working on the hubby to get him a playmate! I try to socialize him with other dogs of all sizes as much as possible. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | No way could I let her run, we don't have acreage anymore. We live in a regular neighborhood with alot of kids and cars. She has to make due with running after squirrels, chipmunks, birds and butterflies in the fenced back yard. I wouldn't have let her run on the 2 1/2 acres we used to have either, she is to small. It was in AZ and a rattlesnake could have bit her or a coyote could have eaten her.

| I try to socialize little luc with big or (bigger) dogs...He is only 4 pounds but can usually hold his own... he'll definitely let them know when he has had enough though. ..and Unfortunately I don't have a yard, so letting him run about isn't an option. |

| We live in the city, so no 14 acres for our monsters! lol Just a backyard. Boo goes out all the time. After he does his rounds and checks to be sure everything is secure he likes to just sit on the back patio, watch and listen to everything. Boo is 10 1/2 lbs and 5 years old Gracie Ruth loves to be outside too, but she is only 7 month old and not into the whole sedately sitting and enjoying life thing. She wants to run and sniff and chew and terrorize her brother and run in the house and run out of the house and drag all her toys all over...you get the picture, right. But she is barely 3 1/2 lbs and we have hawks and owls that would love a tasty treat. So she can only be out if someone is with her. I don't see anything wrong with letting them out to run and play as long as they have a safe secure area to do it in. 9 lbs is probably too big for hawks and most owls, but if you have coyotes in your area, 9 lbs is just an afternoon snack to them.

| I live in SE Mo, but i guess one reason I feel comfy w this is cause my neighbors breed mini and reg aussies, so the dogs are the top of the food chain.. wait actually that would be the cats lmao!!! I do NOT let them out when its really hot or humid! |

| I think there are predators, (owls, hawks, turkey buzzards, mountain lions, foxes, coyotes, snakes and humans too)...everywhere !!! I would definetly fence them in an area just big enough to run around and if they get startled and you are out with them, they can safely run to the door !!! Mine don't even go out to pee alone, ever !!! And we have a 6 ft wall areound our backyard.. ( a nice wall)....pool,etc... Too many sad stories...

| Maybe if Teddy was a lil pup I would be more wary of his comings and goings. He is a good 10 lbs. and he has Henry with him... kinda like letting your kids play outside.... you let them think they are all big and bad, but you watch through the window lol! |

| We have a fenced in back yard and Mikki and Maggie run free there but one of us is always out there with them... maybe b/c hubby is a biiiiig worrier and sees dangers everywhere. On the other hand those little friendly guys are snatched up pretty quickly by someone who likes to make a fast dollar... If someone asks me what kind of dog that is I always tell them that they are just mutts I got from the shelter... |

| mine love to run in the backyard when I'm home - we have no predators around here - just bunnies & squirrels for them to chase. Roxy would live out there if I would let her

| My girls have a doggie door and they run in and out all day....they don't like the dark though and tend to stay in the house after dark. They have a deck and about 20X50 area of the yard that is theirs...The fence secured so that they can't get out and nothing can get in. We have the perfect set up for them. Also they have a private deck all to themselves! |

| Thanks all!! Sometimes I feel a bit outta my element here... I adore my babies, BUT I don't dress them up or carry them around, or take them everywhere with me. they don't sleep w/me, and ppl come first.. I do hug and kiss them, play with them, teach them manners, groom them, bathe them weekly, and when we are going some where they are welcome, I take them along when I can!! then again all of my don;t if my DH would let me i would do most of them lol |
