I have thought about this for so long.....I still do NOT know what to do when that time comes!!!!

We lost my DH's yellow lab a few years ago (his shop buddy) and we buried him here.

BUT w/ Mojo and LilyGrace....I don't know if I want to bury them here, as we may not live here "forever".

I have NEVER wanted to do cremation for anyone...but I am thinking this is the only way to keep them w/ me FOREVER!

I would DEFINITELY do the individual cremation, as I want their ashes and no one elses...but then again...I wonder, how do you know you are getting them.....

I always have toyed w/ the idea of sending their ashes to the place that turns them into a little gem that is made into a necklace, etc...but than again....I question if you really get "them"...is it really their ashes?!

I worry too much, I know...but I always have that doubt...and I want to make sure!

We have always buried our pets in the back yard except for one. Our beloved Maggie a cocker-chow mix. She was put to sleep in the vet's office when she was found to have advanced mouth cancer. We left her there. My mom and dad had their dalmation cremated and have the ashes. I would always be afraid I would lose them or spill them.

Most individuals feel the cremated remains of a pet they love should be afforded a resting place that can be identified by the name and dates. This is memorialization. I have buried beloved pets in my back yard....whn I mentioned that to a friend of mine that deals in real estate, she told me it was ILLEGAL to be burying dead animals in your back yard....contamination or something....so I now have my beloved pets cremeated, and my really special pets have urns and a place on the mantel or my dresser....my other special babies I bury their ashes in elaborate ornamental pots that can be taken with me if I ever move again.......I think since all the dogs ran and played together, if I needed to, I could without causing me undo regret or stress, combine the ashes of the babies in one large special urn.....either leave them in the plastic bag they are enclosed it, or actuallt combine them all together.... I have had 4 pets cremated, and I attended the "funeral" of each, called a "witnessed cremation"......and left with the ashes of MY pet in an wooden urn.

Our little minature schnauzer died on the operating room table 6 years ago. We had her individually cremated and her ashes are kept in a mahogony box in the bookcase. My husband and kids know when I die her box with her ashes is to be put in my casket and buried with me. I know this sounds morbid but it gives me peace to know she will be with me in some way.

Not at all, I dont think it's morbid!!! Same thoughts here!!! These 4 followed me everwhere I went and slept with me from the time I got them...they will go with me when I go!

I want to say there was a story about a crematorium lying about these things recently. In general, I think you just have to trust that your vet has chosen a trustworthy company.

When my animals pass, they will be cremated and/or I will harvest their bones and keep the skeleton and/or I will keep certain parts depending on my feelings at the time. But then my undergrad degree will be in anatomy, so I'm....a unique individual.

When my boys were little they grew up with their faithful companion Sasha. She was a chow mix and adored her. She had a tumor in a inoperable place on her head so we had no choice but put her to sleep. They had her for thirteen years. My oldest son stayed with her till her last breath when the procedure was done. He said it was the saddest thing he ever had to witness. I have two fur babies now, and when that time comes I will cremate them also. My son keeps sashas ashes in his bedroom.

As a licensed funeral director and embalmer, I can tell you from experience that many people choose to have the cremated remains of their pet buried with them. In my own family, my husband will be cremated as well as our pets. The plan is to bury all of the cremains/ashes with me if I go last.

Many pet crematory's offer different types of cremation. It is important to choose the individual cremation. It is also important to know who you are dealing with. Go visit the place of business and ask for a tour. Ask lots of questions!

We have had all 3 or our little min. schnauzers cremated. The last just being about a month ago. If I thought I did not get an indivd. cremation like we paid for, I would be upset to the helt. I have all three of their little boxes in my computar room and its always made me feel close to them. I hope and pray thats what we got and they were treated with dignity. Its a horrible thing to have to have one that you love so dearly put down, let alone having to worry about something like that. I hope mine are always treated like I want them to be. We have 1 schnauzer and 3 little yorkies that will be cremated when their time comes. It would be unbearable to think of them being treated bad and their ashes mixed with other pets.
