Why don't people listen

So my brother who always has comments about my dogs got a dog. His fiancee was talking about how she wanted to get one but not a small one like mine, they wanted a bigger dog. They live near a big mall that has a petstore and they go there a lot so i told them whatever you do, and if you decide to get one don't get one from a petstore, i can help you look for a good breeder if need be, and i told them all the reasons why that's important. Well what do they do???? They go to that petstore and buy one! I'm like well...great, why do i even bother?? They got a poddle, cocker spaniel mix(cockapoo), 3 months old, i haven't even seen it yet.. I'm sure it's really cute and i'm happy and all that they got a dog but why don't people ever listen? And then some people might have read my previous thread about how they are always paranoid that my babies will pee or poo on their floor and my brother doesn't like them on his furniture, he is soooo iffy about his stuff, so im thinking..and you want a dog???? And they're daughter is just 10 months old, they have a lot of work on their hands already..but we'll see how it goes. I'm happy to say she seems to looooove dogs already, she does crazy when she sees one and barks with them, its tooo cute. But anyway, the point is that they don't listen. And then today i was speaking to my father about it cause my 10 yr old sister wants a dog. So i told him, as i have before about the petstores and he goes "well do you get your money back from breeders if the dog is sick? Do you get a certificate? Petstores give you one...yada yada yada'" I feel like there's no point in even telling them if they won't listen and think they are always right and will go to the petstore anyway srry just venting..

Oh Sarah I am sorry you are dealing with this. I know exactly what you mean. People just dont want to listen. It doesnt matter what you say, they just ignore it. That makes me sad and mad at the same time. Tell your father to go on youtube and search puppy mills. I am sure after seeing some videos he will change his mind.

Ugh geez that is so frustrating. I'm sorry that happened. I fell in love with a cockapoo I met at a pet store once - I named him Tux (I tend to name animals in pet stores lol) cause he had a little white tuff of hair on his chest. I'm glad I didn't get him though - it was obvious that he had some kinda mental problem.

Have they taken him to the vet? Try to make sure they get him checked for neurological problems! Sometimes words just aren't enough. My best friend's family..love them all dearly, but no matter what I said they just didn't get why pet stores were so awful and got their dog from a pet store. When they started talking about getting another one, I printed out pictures and stuff of puppy mills. as much of a shock as it was, it seemed to work cause they got their second golden from a breeder.

Thanks, well it's not me, if they want to deal with it thats fine lol I'm just warning them and gave them as much info as i can. Good thing is my dad said my sister can't have a dog until she's 17 and she's only 10 right now so i think that's a good idea. Atleast she'll take care of it. For now she can play with mine sometimes or my brother's i guess.

Aww this one that they got has a white chest also, they told me. I don't know if they've taken it yet to the vet, im sure they will cause they are both responsible people. They got it 2 days ago. Atleast i know it will be taken care of cause they are
loving, i hope my brother will let him on the furniture and just be a dog though. I hope he doesn't have neurological problems, im going to see how he acts, i think tommorrow we are going to their house to see it. Is it common in cockapoos? I'm glad your friend's family finally listened after you showed them the pics Puppymills are just awful! I wish everyone knew about them, i tell you i would have never guessed that happened when i was little and saw those cute puppies at the window

.... I remember reading Post about the "fiancee" .... and that was a jealousy thing of her (getting a dog like you)......

Your Furbutt is way too cute and ....... clearly she is jealous if it ..... and if I remember correct ... your brother doesn't like dogs ..... now what happens when you visit them the next time ????

I think that was wrong not to take your advice .....

You remember how ticked off i was in my post lol No his fiancee is not jealous though, she is actually very nice and sincere, i love her, it's my brother that acts like the jealous one lol He is my older brother, yet acts like if he's younger sometimes, but he's also very responsible and hard working so w.e. But yes he was the one that would aways complain about my dogs, like he didn't mind me taking them to his house but then when i did he would always say stupid little comments about how i baby them, and they are dogs not people, etc And would not like them on his couch, the beds, etc. which was fine but then i wonder why the heck they decided to get a dog, i just wonder how they'll manage. I just hope he is nice to the dog cause he can be mean sometimes but the fiancee is nice and very sweet. It's only my bro i worry about, i know he will be the strict 'tough love' one. He used to be mean to my dog when i was little and my pet birds but hopefully since this is 'his dog' he won't be. I think he was just mean cause they're 'my pets' cause he 'loved' his ex's yorkie and didn't complain about her treating him like a baby so i dunno, he is a weirdo lol...def acts like a brother. Oh and thank you for saying they are cute You're so sweet. That's why i get so mad when he is mean to them

i just remembered something, you prob. read my other thread about my bf's sister getting a dog. I think what she did was an act of jealousy, i think you got them confused if you did read that thread. That's a whole other story, she's a mess. lol

lol yea. Well i went today and he is very cute. He is calm and very fluffy They did already take him to the vet, as i knew they would so he got 2 puppy shots and they checked him and he is fine. And they bought everything he needs and is even already paper training well The baby get's sooo excited
