| ![]() My yorkie "Bills" is 14lbs and his belly is flat and doesn't hang near as low as his chest so he isn't fat. Does that make him a "teapot"? I've never heard the term before. I want to buy a second yorkie the same size. How can I tell how large a puppy will be? I love Bills. A few days ago I was offered $800 for him while we were out for a walk. I wouldn't sell him for a million!!! His name is Bills because he has expensive taste. He only drinks bottled water, he only eats Science Diet, he will only sleep on my side of the sleep number bed. He is a spoiled little guy and I wouldn't have it any other way. Glad to be a new member. Howdy Everybody! |

| ![]() Do you ever go to the dog park in Sugar Land? I know it's a little warm for that now, so we won't be going anytime soon. My 15 lb teapots love it there.

| ![]() I live less than 5 miles from that dog park and I took my dogs there once and they clung to my side. I did a 5k run at the Memorial park next to the dog park about a month ago and I had the best time sitting and watching all the dogs play in and around the pond. I am always amazed at how well all the dogs get along while there, never see any fighting, just a bunch of happy dogs having the best time ever. My dogs are beating the summer time heat in the pool. I have an in-gound pool and my two think they need to swim every single day. If I open the back door, they both run to the spot where the top step is. They will look down at the water where the step is and then look back at me, look down at the water, look at me as if they are saying "can we please go swimming, please, please, please". Right now swimming is in their favor since its too hot to take them on walks. |

| ![]() My Yorkie, Bills, is 14lbs, does that qualify as a Teapot??? I love the size of my baby because he is big enough that I'm not always tripping over or stepping on him. My baby is named Bills because he has expensive tastes. He only drinks bottled water, only eats Science Diet, he only sleeps on the soft side of our sleep number bed. He is pickey! We have only found one treat he likes aside from Dentasticks. I posted this earlier but I don't see it so I'm so sorry if this is redundant. I'm new to the site but so far my wife Sylvia and I. love reading YorkieTalk.com with our baby, Bills. Hello Everybody! |

| ![]() Bills prefers his water ice cold. I have seen heaters for dog bowls. Do they make chillers for dog bowls? Also, does anyone have a GPS coller for their baby? I would be interested to know how well they work and how long the batter lasts. |

| ![]() My 4 yr old maverick is just a little over 10lbs, but i think he is perfect. I love my big boy. People always seem to make comments on how big he is, but i don't let it bother me. I tell them that yorkies come in all sizes. I also have another yorkie, remington, who is only 6.5lbs.

| ![]() This is amazing to me that there are so many larger Yorkies here. I think they are all so cute and am so glad that people love their larger Yorkies. Sadly that is not always the case. I get emails that notify me of all the small dogs that go into the shelters of the NYC area. There are so many larger Yorkies and Yorkie mixes abandoned or given to the shelters. It is very sad. For many people who think they are getting a small dog, 5 to 7lbs, it can be disappointing when they end up with a medium sized dog instead. It is very sad that they would re-home the dog because of it's size but it happens. Yorkies have such great personalities and that personality is perfect for an active family with kids. I would advise anyone who really has their heart set on a Yorkie that fits into the breed standard for size to buy from a breeder who has a great deal of knowledge of Yorkie genetics and pedigrees. The breeders should be dealing with an established line of dogs and aware of what the line has been producing in the last several generations as far as size and genetic stability as well as the general conformation of the dogs. There are many breeders out there that think that putting two smaller sized dogs together will produce small puppies and that is not true. One or both of those pet quality dogs could very well carry genes that will produce larger dogs. That is why you need a knowledgeable breeder that knows the lines and has proven breeding stock. I love your larger Yorkies. I can just imagine how much fun they are to be around. I love my little girl. She is a live wire but I do have to protect her quite a bit. I did want a small dog due to a back injury. She is perfect for me but I surely would love her just as much if she had gotten larger. |
