| Hello, My name is Nancy and I have Poms and Yorkies. I showed Collies, Shelties and Poms for a total of 30+ years. I have not shown dogs in a while because I was told with my back problem I should not be traveling or lifting as much. About three years ago I decided that I could now show again if I did it limitedly (not every other weekend from March through November) and did it with the much lighter Poms (which I quit showing about three years before I got told to quit showing the Shelties). My whole thing in showing Poms again was to show blue merle tan that I was familiar with in Collies and Shelties and so I started a breeding program and just this past March had a litter with what I thought to be my show girl for this Fall/Winter season. Well, now that the APC has thrown a wrench in the standard that says you cannot show dogs with blue eyes or blue in eyes, I am quite upset with them as their reasoning is very lame and comes from not being educated on how to breed merles. To make it worse, they tried to get the AKC to throw out the one vote for a do-over because they wanted to vote out the merle coloring in general and that did not go their way. The AKC somehow saw that the vote was misunderstood and now wants a do-over also and it looks like there will be a court fight over this. In the meantime I am sitting here with no-one to show accept a nearly six year old orange gal that might do something minor but getting her majors would be hard. I also was going to try and show Yorkies because after getting my daughter-in-law one for a present several years ago I fell in love with their temperament also. I had a male and three female, but after discovering he was producing puppies with bad hearts I had him neutered and gave him to a friend who just adores him. So I have the girls of which a couple are now spayed, but I also have one that after losing her one puppy litter last year I let her breed with my Chocolate Merle Parti male Pom. (She raised a kitten after she lost that puppy and it now weighs about 20 spayed pounds to her petite 4 pounds.) She had two little boys that are "blue merle tan" and they come by it very honestly. Their dam is a peuter blue and dark gold... the dam’s dam is a lighter blue and lighter gold, the dam’s sire is a black/tan. On the sire's side... the Pom sire is chocolate merle tan parti and Pom’s dam is a wolf sable and Pom’s sire is a blue merle tan parti. So there is that blue gene on both sides and she had these two sweet blue merle tan (rich tan) boys. I have had this breeding before only twice and it produced two orange sable Yoranians in one litter and an orange in the other litter. I was very shocked as I had no trouble at all finding homes for them. In the past I had put them on PuppyFind under Yorkies and Poms and no one said a word about it but apparently someone has complained and PuppyFind said that they now have a place for mixed breeds and they have to be listed as small, medium or large mixed breeds. I wrote and told them that they are a breed with the Hybrid Registry and what would I have to do to get them added as a separate listable breed of their own instead of in the mixed breeds. They wrote back and gave me a whole list of things I needed to do and I need some help with it and thought you all might be able to help me. They wrote me back and asked me to send in all kinds of information, including an adult picture and a baby picture, along with size, care, weight, etc. I was wondering if you, or anyone you know would have an adult picture (cute cute cute) that could be used. I have never kept any of them and I am afraid the two I have now are not going to be as representative of what people normally have because mine are blue merle tan. If you or anyone can help me, let me know please. Here is what they sent me. ************************************************** ********************* In order for a new breed to be considered, please fill out and return the form below.
