| New groomer I went to make an appointment at the groomers I have had since Lucy was tiny.. Both my dogs have always done well with her but while I was waiting to speak to the groomer who had gone to help a customer take her sick dog to the car I watched the groomer assistant. She walked up to a cage , glared at a dog and when he looked at her and barked she slapped the side of the kennel!!! Then she walked across the room where there was 2 small dogs in a kennel. They were being quiet so the assistant picked up a tower fan that was next to there kennel and kinda plopped it on the floor RIGHT next to the kennel. One of the little dogs barked once. She smacked there door as well. It was almost like she was enjoying making them bark so she could intimidate them..She never said a Word to any of the dogs at all.. I made the appointment but really dont want my babies treated this way..Am I being to sensitive ??? |

| If your groomer had a sick dog in the shop and the assistant was obviously harassing the dogs, I would get away from there ASAP and never look back |

| Well im not sure the dog was sick, but it was a large dog that seemed to have trouble moving his back legs.. They had to put a sling around his middle, and 3 women got him out to the car.. Thats when I had the chance to observe the assistant.. I did speak the the groomer alone about what I observed, She said they had to keep the dogs quiet because another store at the mall complained about the noise. But it certainly did look like she was making them bark so she could hit the side of the cage... I stood there at least 5 minutes and never say her speak to any of the dogs . She just looked and acted mean . |

YT 1000 Club Member | I'd go with your gut. If your getting vibes don't ignore them you might end up regretting it. Must be difficult to have a grooming business in a location that you have to keep scared and nervous dogs quiet. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | CANCEL the appointment! dont go there if they did that to my baby.......I dont know what i do. They are already scared and in a unfamiliar place.....That lady needs to be fired. Obviously she doesnt love dogs. I would never do that to a dog. Ever! |

| I am really disappointed with what I saw. I have seen the groomer with the dogs and they all seem to love her.It really bothered me to see this poor little black pek. back up and cower. The groomer has always talked to the dogs and they usually behave quite well. I have called a few places this afternoon. I am going to find a new groomer. Its to bad my babies have always done well with her, but they havent had to deal with this new assistant. TG |

| Oh that's awful I bet you wanted to ask her what the heck she was doing. She sounds like she needs to work some place else.

| It sounds like you really like your groomer so this is the approach I would take. Talk to the groomer about her assistant- let her know exactly what you saw. Maybe she doesnt know the assistant tortures the dogs in her absence. At best, your groomer will get rid of her but if she shrugs it off and keeps her there, I'd find another groomer. She might slap the cages now, but if left unchecked, those poor dogs could be next.

| Well I did go meet the groomer half way across the store. She kind of dismissed it as thats normal, its how we quiet the dogs.. But I know from past expierence and the fact my daughter worked in that shop for 2 years that it is not the way the groomer has treated the dogs in the past... So after speaking to her and she doesnt seem concerned, I have no choice but to get another groomer.. |
