| Here I go again SO having successfully raised Mika with the help of you guys I now need help with Maya. Here is the problem. When raising Mika my daughter lived with me. Luckily her work was not far from home. so she could come and let Mika out of the crate mid-day,take her out, play with her a little and then go back to work. I can't put tiny Maya in a crate for as many hours as I will be away when I start work August 4...... No there is no friend, neighbor, or relative who can help me. I am literally alone in the world, which is why I NEEDED Maya, not just wanted her. SO here is my plan. I have the baby gate up to the laundry room where I can put down paper, her water, and her bed and some toys. My dilemma is I don't think this is going to help with my bigger plan of housebreaking her. Do you have any advice for me on this????

| The best way I have found to set up when potty training is getting an x pen and a crate. I set it up so the x pen is set up as long as it will go, one panel wide. place the crate at one end attached to the x pen, and the other end I place the potty pad. I place water and food in the middle or closer to the crate. Most dogs do not like a dirty bed so they will potty at the far end where you place the potty pad. You can also use the potty spray at that end also. It works well for my BF dogs when we are at work. ,and also worked well on my yorkie Evee. We have a doggie door, but out here it is like 115 almost every day and we don't want to come home to a dog with heat exhaustion.

| Do not worry! Here is what I would do. Set up a x-pen or your laundry room as a little room for your baby, with pee pads on one end. Doggies have a natural urge to not dirty their room and they will use the papers once they figure it out. Put away all things that are no-no's so they cannot reach them. Set a little TV or radio in there and put the volume on low or whatever to cover up outside noises, so they are not scared of things they hear outside, like the garbage truck. Put some toys in there. They do indeed SLEEP most of the day. Doggies are most alert early in the morning and at night. Make it a comfortable place for your baby to sleep and most of the battle is already won. Believe it or not, they do indeed LIKE to be alone. You will smothered in puppy kisses when you come home because she will smell you! You may even hear her barking excitedly when you open the door, but this is not because she was lonely and barked all day. It is because she smelled you coming. Hope this helps! Don't worry!
