| Misty was spayed! Poor Misty was spayed and had her second eye tooth pulled at the same time. She was really in pain for the first five days, but today she is doing better. It was like taking care of a little baby. Carrying her up and down the stairs, feeding her ice cubes, etc. I had to get a lamp shade because she was chewing her stitches. That was a ball, let me tell you. She would just stand completely still. Even when I put her to bed, she just stood for at least 3 hours. She finally had to lay down to go to sleep. I am just so very glad that it is all over and that she made it through the surgery. After all, it is major surgery. And when they are so small, it scares the heck out of one! Just need to go back and have her stitches removed Friday! Pat |

| How old is Misty and how much does she weigh? My vet said I can get Phoebe spayed at anytime but she is only almost 5 months old and weighs only 2.8 lbs...scares the heck out of me, so I am waiting as long as I can. I am happy to know that Misty is feeling somewhat better...you sound like a doting momma

I Love My Babies Donating Member | I am glad she is doing better. It is hard on them. They don't understand why they are in such pain. And usually Mommy is a wreck. I was. I found that a onesie worked great. A wonderful friend of mine suggested it and it was so much better than having to put a collar on them. Kisses and hugs to you and your baby.

| Gees! Never thought of a onesie! That is a great idea! Misty was 7#3oz when she was spayed! She really had a hard time of it. I've had lots of dogs spayed, and this was the worst. He did say though that her eye teeth were very deep so she had a double whammy! I would wait until her second eye teeth come in, as they have to pull the baby ones because they don't come out by themselves for some reason. Dr. said to wait until they were pretty much in so that she wouldn't have to under go two anesthesia's. Makes sense. She gets her stitches out Friday, and I will be as glad as she will. I didn't enjoy it one bit. Usually they are pretty good after the second day, but she sure wasn't. I see on the bill where they had to give her a pain injection that night. And, he sent her home with Rimadyl for pain and swelling. I really felt very, very sorry for her. I didn't sleep well either, as you all know how that is. Pat |
