Well this isn't the reason why docking has been banned here for over a year now. It was banned because it was considered an unnecessary mutilation no matter how early it was carried out, a move backed by The Kennel Club & vets.
Far from being a requirement if you are going to show a dog, it is the complete opposite here now. It is now illegal to show any docked dog, born after the ban came into force, from being shown at any show in the UK. This also applies to dogs born abroad but entered into any show in England & Wales (which of course includes Crufts) though ones docked abroad can still be entered in shows held in Scotland.
