| What size exercise pen should I get? What size exercise pen should I consider for my little guy? I'm planning to keep Jackson in my laundry room when I'm at work during the day. I want to give him plenty of room but not give him free reign of the whole room. I'm planning to get a 10 panel Gogo exercise pen to keep him contained. I think it will give him plenty of room but still keep him out of trouble (hopefully). I was thinking of getting the 36" tall unit. I know when I first bring him home, when he's still just a puppy, this will be more than high enough. I'm wondering about when he gets older though. I know every dog is different and how big he winds up getting will impact that. Also, some dogs are more adventurous and love to jump and climb. Do you guys think a 36" exer pen should do or should I consider the 48" for another $25? I appreciate everyone's opinions. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, - Byron Followell |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Mine is 24" tall, and I've never had a problem. My Yorkie is a young, 10-pounder who's been in agility, but 24" is too ambitious for him to jump. I believe I did read where a Yorkie climbed a 24 incher, but I think that's rare. So if you want to be cautious, go with 36, but I think 48 would be overkill.

| Mine is an 8-panel at 36" tall and it's more than big & high enough. The only thing is I didn't pay attention to the gate and should've gotten a walk-through. I'm only 5'1" and having to step over the sides to get in to clean was challenging, to say the least

| I have a girl that is a climber. My x-pen is 48" tall and she climbed it and got out. Then climbed back in to be with her puppies by the time I could get to her!!

| I have a 24" 10 panel for my 6lb yorkie. We put it out in the yard at the bottom of our deck steps in the winter. We put him in it in the winter to go potty so we can run him out and back in quickly without having to put on his harness and leash every time (he's a runner). We have a much larger fenced area that is 24" high at the back of our property that we use in the summer. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Amazing. That would be my fear. If you've got a climber, he or she is going to be able to climb a 48-incher as easily as a 24-incher. I wouldn't want to take the chance of them falling four feet. You'd be better off finding something two feet and unclimbable. Uh, but I have no suggestions there.

I agree. I initially got the tall one so my 2yr. old couldn't go over the side and pet puppies. If you don't have a climber, it's great for that. Now that I know my girl will climb it, she won't go back in.

If your dog is a climber it doesn't matter how high the pen is.... and I agree that it is safer for a dog to climb over a 24 inch than a 48 inch. Good luck!!

| I have had a couple of good climber but not even my best has escaped this one Marshall Small Animal Playpen 11-Panel: Rabbit Stop I had a rabbit and their x-pens have less bars going across so the doggies can not climb out, also that mat is a carpet saver or you can put it on top if your outside it protects them from anything flying to harm them.

| I have two of the Marshall Pens and two bottoms for them. They work great. I open them up sometimes and use them to gate off the kitchen/living room so they cannot get into the bath rooms or bed rooms. That works great too. |
