Donating YT 30K Club Member | Have a safe trip. Maybe give him a little less dose and ask the vet about using it on a long flight. I would make sure you bring extra food, treats, water and some wipes to clean up and accidents. Also a blanket as it can be cool on flights.

| First of all, do you have to take him? What pleasure will he have? I will never take my babies on an airplane again...My one gets anxiety attacks when put in the bag...I used rescue remedy and her heart paputated so much that the flight attendant called for a vet for advise....It happened (thank God) a dog therapist was on the plane with her surgeon doctor...Harlee's tongue was almost black from anxiety... We ended up giving her a couple of drops of Jack Daniels on her tongue...Yep, that's right, Jack Daniels whiskey....And it was complimentary .!!! After that incident , she stays home with someone from now on...Sorry, I had to let you know my experience....Hope you can at least sneak him out of that bag....What a torture !!! And how's the water there? Any chance of getting a bacterial infection from tap water? Bring bottled water at least... Good luck ....

| From what I have learned about NutriCal it is a miracle in emergencies, but when you give it you need to follow up with food. NutriCal provides an energy spike for about 20 minutes. If the furbaby doesn't have food that can be quickly converted into energy then hypoglocemia becomes an issue. |

| They have Rescue Remedy for pets or kids that doesn't have alcohol like the regular one, which has 27% alcohol. I would just take him to the restroom every 3 or 4 hours to stretch, go potty on a weewee pad and eat or drink some. I would definitely not go 16 hours with just nutrical. I'm a flight attendant and I've been traveling with my dogs for 18 years. Although the longest flight I have been on with them is 6.5 hours. Good Luck and try to relax because the dogs pick up on your nervousness, maybe you should take a little Rescue Remedy on the plane too!!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | traveling with your furbaby once you get past security buy a bottled water to take with you...remember to bring a little plastic tupperware or something for them to drink out of...also bring the syringe that you sometimes use for meds...because if your dog does not wnat to drink you can help her stay hydrated. one key thing that helped me was to start carrying Georgia around in the carrier...in the car by my feet sometimes so she was used to it. I put a blanket over her cage and she was fine...she slept...the most we have spent was about 4 hours in the air, stop over for an hour then 3 hours in the air....she is a sport weigh your options...consider leaving her because its stressful flying with animals, customs may give you a hard time, because different countries have rules, you may have to quarantine her on the way back so they are sure she does not bring any foriegn dog illnesses back. It used to be that if you flew here from Hawaii you had to quarintine your pet too. maybe that has changed but I would check into that before your trip. Consider taking her if you dont have anyone to watch her and you want your family to meet her, kenneling her for a long period of time can be expensive and stressful for her too. I did not take georgia on my last couple trips because it was high stress trying to fit her into activities and schedules...plus some people dont like dogs in their house, cars or around thier babies..you know...so just make sure you do all this thinking before you decide.... I think I would recommend you taking a road trip to the beach or something and see how she does before you get stuck on a plane with a anxiety attack or yippy dog or something hope this helped Last edited by NewYorkieMom52; 07-11-2008 at 08:03 AM. |

| Hi! I am curious about why you are going to India. I'm just nosy, that's all. I have always wanted to go there. Is this a vacation, or do you have family there? |

I know it is not going to be pleasurable for him,and neither is it going to be any fun for me..but its something that needs to be done! Thank you for ALL your suggestions, i have taken note of them all! Someone mentioned drinking water in India, and NO it is not safe to drink from the tap.. we have to drink only bottled water there,so thats all Mojo will be drinking too!

Its used for stress and anxiety, and can be taken by humans and animals. I have tried it and it made me really calm and kinda sleepy. I tried it on Mojo and he passed out - although i dont think thats what its supposed to do! you can get it at any pet store, or any GNC.. Im all for it, and plan on giving it to Mojo for the flight.. anything to help with his nerves..
