| Help! Groomers appt in 2 hours and I can't decide! Esme has an appt with her groomer in 2 hours. She goes to the groomers every month but usually just gets her nails clipped, ears trimmed and a hygenic shave. My problem is I can't make up my mind about getting her hair cut. It's SO hot here in Miami and I feel bad for her and all that hair. But we are half way through summer and if we have made it this far, couldn't we make it the rest of the way??? My choices are (I hope I am explaing these correctly): 1. Terrier cut? Body short, legs longer, head the same. 2. Skirt cut? Only cut the hair from her body to the floor. 3. Puppy cut? Cut it all! AHH! Do you guys have any other suggestions??? The funny thing is that before I got Esme and I was looking for a yorkie, I would always see pictures of yorkies with long coats and I would think, 'that must be so uncomfortable, I would never do that to my dog...' But yet, now that I have Esme, I LOVE her hair and don't want to cut it! Oh, and we are also going away for the weekend. We are staying at the beach and Esme is coming with us. So, obviously short hair would be beach hair... I am sorry this is so long. You must all think I am nuts now! Here are some pictures of Esme I just took this morning. Please, help me decide!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | She has PRETTY hair - long hair keeps bugs off them if that helps ! lol - I was going to cut Chanels hair - but ended up trimming her & thinning (she has LOTS of hair) Cheri has a long coat too - it's not too hard to keep up with since it's silky - I left both long this summer. If you LOVE her long hair - just get a trim in the right places - they really aren't that hot because they aren't outside all that much - My girls spy and play in the yard - but only for 10 - 20 minutes at a time - they know when it's really hot out and stay in the house. I had cut Chanel 2 years ago - SHORT. While it was very cute and I loved it - what a drastic change it was. It took about 4-6 months to grow back. If you have the time - and can keep up with long hair - If I were YOU .....I would just get her trimmed ....Her hair is a pretty good length right now - Good luck ! |

| My two are at the groomers today, too! I always hold my breath when I pick them up not knowing for sure what they are going to look like. I agree with everyone here - just a trim - you can always take more off, but you can't do anything about a "too" short cut, except wait! Can't wait to see "after" pictures of her new cut - Esme is such a CUTIE!!! |

| Thanks for your replies guys! The groomer said she was going to give her a trim. She told me to expect her to look neater, but it won't be a drastic change. I am picking her up at noon. I will DEFINETLY post pictures then!

| I'm glad you decided to just go with a trim, she is so sweet with all her hair. I was considering cutting Reagan's because of the heat but a couple of folks on here talked me out of it and I'm glad they did because honestly their long coats is the first thing that drew me to the breed(which I'm sure is true of a lot of people). Ok and one question, this is kind of strange and off the wall, but how do you pronounce Esme. I have a way that I say it to myself everytime I read it but really don't know if its right or not. I think its such a pretty name to look at and if I'm saying it right then a pretty sounding name as well.
