| Why do you dock the tails? We have two new puppies 9 weeks old and their tails have been docked. Now I was wondering why do they get this procedure done? I have seen pictures of undocked tails they look okay. |

| Maybe is that the standard for the breed?

| It is the standard but I have heard it is because they are soo tiny that the tails can easily get slammed in doors and whatnot and the pain o fhaving the tails docked at 3 days is nothing compared to having a broken tail...something to that effect

| Sanitary reasons and the fact that it makes the dog look good! I believe they no longer do it in Britain.

| As many of you know, Rika does not have a docked tail. If anyone ever wants to know why they shouldn't dock tails, just come to me. I love Rika's tail and the fact that it's long. I honestly don't think they should dock tails anymore.

I don't really have an opinion one way or the other though. It's my understanding that the docking is a fairly simple process when done very early. | |

| One of my Yorkie girls has a docked tail and it's still cute nonetheless. My little Yorkie Boy doesn't have his tail docked and it's beautiful and fits him well. I think regardless docked or not I love how it looks on all the yorkies. adds a little pizazz with the tail, and looks cute without. |

| I've seen the tails both ways and they look good either way. They are just way too cute of a dog so the tail doesn't make a difference to me. My Stomper's tail is docked. My aunt has a yorkie and his is not docked and he is just as cute...if not cuter!

| I have no idea why they dock yorkies tales, but i do know why they dock lambs. If you don't dock a lambs tale it hangs straight down almost to the ground and they sh** on it. I don't know if this is the same for yorkies. My little guy has a nothing of a tale...i personally think he was docked a little short. but it's so cute when he wags it his whole back end wiggles.
