Safest way to buy a puppy online

I hope you find a breeder that you could work with. Congrats Wendy on finding a wonderful home for Lexie. The internet works if you follows the suggestions. I have made some wonderful friends through the internet and Wendy just told/showed you that it can work. Even you next door neighbor selling puppies could be a scammer.

I would suggest going to the YTCA website and looking for breeders in your state. From there, you can look at websites, if they have one, or call them to find out more info about them. By talking to them, you should be able to narrow it down a bit.

Not all breeders are listed. I went to this ladies site and she has a lot of females, and 3 males. she is is Michigan but I couldn't find her listed on the website for yorkshire terriers club. Infact I couldn't find any of the breeders that pm'd me about having puppies from this forum. So how do you take it any further then that? AKC website? will just take you to the yorkshire terrier club site. I didn't try to break it down further to maybe regional or local clubs?

Did you try contacting the any othe the ones listed on the YTCA club site, very few breeds belong to the YTCA, they have very strict rules of conduct, and most breeders simply are not eligible, but it's a great way to select a breeder. Just because a breeder is listed with the AKC doesn't mean that they are a good breeder. Here's a good booklet on what to look for in a breeder. http://www.hsus.org/web-files/PDF/Good_breeder.pdf
