Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I'm sorry if this question causes you pain, and I feel bad asking it, but I can't get poor Jack's confusion out of my head. Were you able to save Mia's body or was it too late? If Jack is able to smell it, it will help him understand what is going on. I've heard about it happening a lot. He will still go through a grieving process, but animals can sense things like that and he will probably understand why she isn't there anymore. If it isn't possible for him to do that, then he will probably come to terms with it eventually and stop looking for her. Again, I'm so sorry if that question hurt you in any way. I see that you are interested in getting another baby! that is wonderful that you are willing to help one in need. That is what Mia would want. That may also help Jack to cope. BIG hugs to you.

| I don't take offense to your question. Everyone here is trying to help me feel better. My ex's chow chased down the coyote and killed it. When he got to them Mia was still alive but she died a few min later. At least he was holding her when she died and he promised me she did not have time to suffer. I don't know if Jack saw her body before my ex buried her. Betty |

| I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what you and Jack must be going through. I hope that you are able to help one of the dogs from that mill and maybe that can ease some of your pain and Jack's. Bella and I are sending you warm thoughts and lots of prayers. May God bless you both and keep you in His arms tonight Dana & Bella |

| So sorry for your loss! We live 5 miles out of town and had one of our girls killed by a coyote. Since then my husband has put in a fence, so they cannot get to far from me and I bought an Anatolian Shepherd. "Emma" has done more for me to put my mind at rest. I had always said I did not want another big dog until this happened. Emma protects us and gets along well with the little dogs. She can jump the fence to be with them if she chooses, but I prefer her being outside the fence, so she can keep any preditors away from our small acreage. She stays around really well. The vet recommended getting an Anatolian, when I told him I was looking into Great Pyranese (spelling) for coyote protection. It will take some time, but you will heal. I was so scared everytime one of the dogs got out of my sight after the incident. I would even get to bawling again. By the way, Emma is named after the yorkie that was killed, who was named Emmelie. They are both are guardian spirits. Last edited by kathy785; 06-28-2008 at 08:13 PM. |

| I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad you are interested in helping with the dogs from the puppy mill close to you. That may hellp you to greive. If you can, I would have your ex let Jack smell Mia. He knows something is up. We had two little kittens, and when one of them died, our other cat was lost for several days, he kept going all around the house looking for her. RIP Mia. |

| I received a call from the shelter that has the dogs from the puppy mill this morning. They told me that they are not adopting out any of the dogs there. They will all be sent to larger shelters. I voluntered to help and she told me it was too far for me to drive just to clean out cages and that I could send a check to Hickman County Animal Shelter Fund # 5 Courthouse Rd Centerville TN 37033 |

| Thanks again everyone you are all so kind. It really does help talking to people who understand how you feel. Jack has stopped searching so much for Mia but I gave him some toys I had bought while out of town and he took them all and brought them to Mia's favorite spot under the futon then came back by me and went to sleep.
