I would pick the most suitable person able to write the check!!!! LMAO |
Oops! I just checked www.starlightsyorkies.com and right now all of hers are up there in price after ll but typically if you check her site she will have a wide range due to size, sex and other characterisitics which determine how she sets the price and she will seel some for as little as $650 and some for as high as $7000. |

To see a MALE and Female in the exact same litter - He is 950.00 and SHE is 4,000 -How is this justified and why say it's ok ? I'm not talking about when a breeder or puppy has special circumstances - In thi scase - we're talking about just 2 dogs in one litter - and one HUGE price difference ? Is this not gouging ? a 3 THOUSAND difference in littermates ? Remember - there is no sure-fire guarantee of size. To me - that's just opening the door for anyone to wants to say they have a very tiny yorkie just to pay for the cruise they've wanted to go on - not to mention all the breeders who AREN'T good ...and will intentionally hold food back to make puppies appear smaller. People will do terrible things for money - I feel the intentional breeding of small yorkies is a dis-service to the breed - When it comes to anything UNDER 3 pounds - it gets scary. |

She was offered $10,000 for the puppy but it wasn't bidding war and she chose the person who she felt would be the best for the puppy regardless of the price! |

Doesn't change my opinion though. |
I've stayed out of this one so far, but here's my 2 cents. If $8,000.00 for a yorkie isn't considered price gouging what is. I understand that each one IS priceless, but to pay that kind of money, it's coat should be made of spun gold and platinum with diamonds for nails and rubies shooting out of it's.... Then again...maybe I should just raise my prices, get out of the red on my dogs and into the black. I could trade in the Honda for a Jag, send the kids to Ivy League schools and hire someone to feed me bonbons. I want to know what kind of cool sales pitch she uses to get that kind of money. God Bless America. |

The 1st paragraph you said they were 'SERIOUSLY COMPETING" and your 2nd paragraph you said "It's not a bidding war" .... It sure does sound like it WAS serious competition AND a bidding war from your post. Saying "The little girl will have the best of everything" is offensive just because the people who got her are well off. You are AGAIN saying only rich people are the ones better equipped for yorkies - MY girls have the BEST of everything. You won't find happier yorkies than mine are - I would NOT pay 8 GRAND and I'm not rich. |

Quote "This just shows that Tanya knows the "value" of the different looks and the puppies and she is being fair. She is not setting some "standard price" like I have seen breeders do before a litter is even born where the females are $1200 for instance males are $1000 or something else just as arbitrary. As a breeder, you know very well that you get all different looks in the same litter, some with big ears, some with small eyes, some with roach backs or long snouts, whatever. Those puppies are just as loveable and someone will be thrilled with them but hey are not as valuable as the "complete package" or size, big eyes, smalll well set ears, level topline, compact body, silky coat, etc." I obviously missed this discussion yesterday, what a shame. Soo let me see if I got this exactly right,Mignon is little, has a shorter nose, small well set ears level topline, compact body, silky coat etc and I paid nowhere near these prices you are talking about. My breeder must have liked me ALOT! She has been breeding and competing very successfully in the dog show world for over 20 yrs and still she sold me a little girl for under 2000????? You must hang around with a different class of breeder than me. |
I was mislead, my breeder said she thought he might be about 5 or 6 lbs based on her past male puppies. Considering he's 5 lbs at 10 weeks i'm guessing he's going to be bigger than that. but she never made any quanties. he's great and healthy and i could care less. I paid $400 for him. The breeder had set prices no matter what. I don't get why females are more but they always are. Maybe cause the female is who has the babies and you can rent the use of stud....don't know. I would be totally miffed however if i spend way more for a pup because the breeder quantitied it would be less then said lbs and it turned out to be more. I would think the breeder should sign a contract saying that for this price full grown your pup will be less than this (cause that sounds what they're saying) if they weigh more than the breeder said they would i think I should be given the option to return the pup and get my money back or at least get the difference in price between an extreme tiny and just a normal pup returned to me when my dog grows out of the extreme tiny weight range. because i would imagine this does happen alot. |

I understand what you are saying and I have some of the same concerns. Just saying that she has the right to charge what she wants. I can't say if it is "worth it" or not? I can only say (without a doubt) that $4000. isn't worth it to ME. And I wonder if some of the anger this subject stirs up is caused by so many posters NOT getting what they paid for. I wonder how many YT people got exactly the dog they thought they bought? oh well. save that for another thread. I am guessing this one will get pulled soon. take care all. bye for now |
