Like I said in an earily post I think they should sign a contract guaranting the features they are charging more for. If when the dog matures he does not have these features then the buyer should be compensated.

I never said she doesn't breed for tinies...she absolutely DOES. You misunderstood something somewhere. She purposely breeds for dogs under the 5 lb range which means "tinies" by most definitions. She doesn't breed for "extreme tinies" which do occur in some litters where you are breeding for tinies. This little girl was not the "runt" either and no where did I represent that she was. The smallest was the little boy that she is probably keeping.

She did not place a higher price on the little girl because she "happened" to get a smaller one in this litter. I specifically and clearly stated that she has been working for five years to get this particular litter. She has priced each puppy based on it's value with help from her mentor who knows what the demand is and what each is worth. In actuality her mentor advised her to ask for MORE and she felt $4000 was a good compromise.

Yes, Kim I think it is gouging to pay more than the average price for any yorkie. I do not know why people charge more for a female but in my experience with the YTCA breeders it is never more than a couple of hundred dollars not thousands!! Kim, I have a champion pedigree in both of my dogs. even little Rio. Mignon has a pedigree that I won't even go into, I still paid no more for her than the going rate from all the show breeders I know. They are PETS for various reasons, if they were show dogs I am sure I would have paid more. But they are PETS. I paid a pet yorkie price.
Now I didn't pass the bar, but I am intelligent enough to realize when someone is taking advantage of me.

now pony thats an interesting concept..so what you are asking is that I place in my contract my pup will not exceed 5lbs NO MATTER WHAT The you feed him and feed him, get him to 5.5lbs then come back as state Im in violation of contract because he exceeded the 5lbs, I then inturn owe you a refund! what is wrong with this picture!!!

I think she was talking about extremely tiny Yorkies. For example, if a breeder says your Yorkie won't get bigger then 2 lbs, but then end up becoming 6 lbs, that had nothing to do with the food you fed them. 4 lbs is a big difference. That dog was never going to be THAT tiny so the breeder mislead the buyer so that she could justify her high prices.

You brought my intelligence into question in your post No 102 . Please do not imply that I was speaking in a less than humble fashion with my comment about the bar exam. I was trying to keep things as lighthearted and humorous as possible.

Now you are still implying that I am not intelligent enough to know when I am being taken advantage of, and I am a little offended but not terribly because I know the truth.

And if this matters I didn't get a puppy pack. What I did get is a breeder that listens to me every week ramble on about my puppy, gives me advise when I need it and a rock solid contract that protects us all, Mignon most importantly.
I didn't get Nutrical or hypoglycemic fact sheets or Albon. She brought me a dog and a contract. thats it. Oh and some food.
She knew me well enough to know I would bring Nutrical Just in case..(I have never used it).

That's exactly what i'm saying....and it was somewhat in jest. They are guaranting a certain look that justifies a certain price. It is possible that at 12 weeks the pup may appear to be a tiny and have a huge growth spurt and be a 9 lb dog....you just never know. I would never think this is a feasible possibility the contract idea...i'm just saying that it seems ridiculous to charge outrageous prices for a dog that's supposed to be tiny that may turn out to be a normal sized yorkie.

Tanya and I still talk and are freinds even though I didn't get a puppy from her. She is a wonderful breeder and I learn from her as I do from all I have met. They all have different ideas about different things and I didn't get albon with Ava either and not puppy pack to speak of so every breeder is different.

Your little Mignon is adorable and I am so glad she is so healthy. Ava has never come even close to a hypoglycemia attack. She is a little tank and eats very well too. We are both fortunate.

When I bought my Katie, she was 14 ounces at 5 months old - so I pretty much knew she'd be tiny. I only paid $1,200 for her. She is now full grown at 2.6 lbs. To me, that is VERY tiny for a dog. I wish she'd gain some weight but she will always be perfect to me whether she is 2 lbs or 500 lbs.

I can see it now, loads of people see that you can get a premium "tiny" yorkie and make thousands off the pups... what will happen? people buy these "tinies" or work a few years to bring down their line, and have litter after litter... making lotsa dough.

People who have no business breeding dogs will do this, why? greed. The same reason people do it now.

Sad thing is the "yorkie" is lost in there somewhere, while people try and get the smallest pup they can... oh and if your bitch has a litter of big (aka- standard size) pups, she is sold... while they move on to the next bitch.

There will be interbreeding ect... just like what happened to poodles a few years back.

Sad- it is really sad that these dogs are being used to make a buck... or a lota bucks.

You can defend your friend all you want- but you won't change the minds of those of us who feel what she is doing is wrong... btw- where is this friend of yours? if she is so proud of her lines she worked 5 yrs perfecting, why isn't she here educating us all? All she has done is come one here and talk about how small here pups were... ha- she knows she is price gouging, that is why she wouldn't say how much they are for... maybe she bases the price on your income?

it was a while back Pat mentioned a breeder selling a show potential pup, when the sale was final (buyer walking out the door) the breeder took the bow off the pups head and kept it LMAO!!!

Look no one cares about the puppy pack all the bells and whistles are just that...what they care about is a honest breeder charging a honest dollar for a honestly breed Yorkie!
