| Boobah is constantly Hello to everyone! I have a problem that I have been contending with Boobah. Whenever I take her to the park she constantly barks at other dogs and gets them riled up! I mean I have to get up and play ball with her for an hour or so and then when I sit down she starts the same routine again. She is a silverhaired yorkie, weighs 8lbs, and is 1 year and 3 months old. I really wouldnt bring it up, its only that some of the other people in the park seem to get annoyed. They have even asked me if she was spaded. I told them , yes, spaded, chipped and everything else. She seems that she wants attention but I am giving her all the attention she needs. You would think she would tired or hurt her vocal cords but she keeps going on and on. Does anyone out there have any recommendations to keep her barking down? Maybe some meds to keep her from being so hyper. Im at my wits end with her, but yet I know she needs to get out to the doggie park for her exercise. Thanks for any help you can give me.

| Chewy is the same way. But I think for her its more that she barely ever sees dogs... we go out like 3 times a week in the summer and less in the winter. She doesnt have the social skills necessary. If youre taking her to the park and shes still barking then maybe you should do some training classes where there are others dogs around and they learn to interact and listen to you...? Not sure what else to suggest. I dont really mind that my monkey doesnt like other dogs... |

| It really starts when they are young puppies. Tlhey need to be socialized with other animals as well as people so this won't happen when they get older. Perhaps you could invite other people with small dogs over one at a time so they could spend some time with each other and then gradually increase the number of doggies to a small party if things work out. That is really the only suggestion I have other than to carry a tin can full of pennies and try shaking that when she barks. Some people use squirt guns. I never used a squirt gun, but I've heard of others doing it for barking.
