Sure Judy no problem! I am so glad that I now I know the correct author, arggh I hate it when people steal other people's work, I write poems and I would hate for that to happen.

I'm not positive who wrote the poem either; she is listed on several sites as the author, but most sites list author unknown. What sometimes happens, is a person finds a poem with author unknown and they post it and just sign there name at the end, not so much as stealing the poem per say, but merely signing there name as in "over and out." Someone else sees the poem and just thinks Cythania is the author and posts her name as the author. It seems that Dawn Phelan could very well be the author since she works on the staff of Veterinary Hospital, in Madison Wisconsin, and his probably experienced the feelings of what this dog is going through many times. I googled the name Dawn Phelan, and although there are several people with this name, I only found one in Wisconsin, I also found this page with her name and address, and phone number. Profile of Dawn Phelan. She works for a rescue. If you want to be absolutely sure, I guess you could contact her.

Very moving poem, Thanks for sharing. I feel so bad that there really are places out there like that and theres nothing we can do but wait untill one turns up. Then do what we can to rescue the ones that we're not to late for. ( very sad but true.

I wrote a poem about some 2 week old kittens my neighbor found after I found the mother dead on the road. She got hit by a car, probably looking for food. The neighbor came to my house and told me to take them or he would get rid of them. I took the 4 kittens in and bottle fed them, kept them in a box with a warmer, and even wiped their little bottoms with a warm cloth like their mother would to help them go. It was exhausting, but not a single one died. I wrote this because it hurt how cruel people can be.

No one hears them cry
In the darkness, destined to die
The little hearts beat,
No fulfillment of need,
Shrieking at the moon,
Hoping mom to come soon,
Dripping mouths of hungering sweat,
Sitting on the earth, so cold and wet.
Humans, they will not cry,
For the desperate little beings
That are destined to die.
