I'm not positive who wrote the poem either; she is listed on several sites as the author, but most sites list author unknown. What sometimes happens, is a person finds a poem with author unknown and they post it and just sign there name at the end, not so much as stealing the poem per say, but merely signing there name as in "over and out." Someone else sees the poem and just thinks Cythania is the author and posts her name as the author. It seems that Dawn Phelan could very well be the author since she works on the staff of Veterinary Hospital, in Madison Wisconsin, and his probably experienced the feelings of what this dog is going through many times. I googled the name Dawn Phelan, and although there are several people with this name, I only found one in Wisconsin, I also found this page with her name and address, and phone number.
