Default add another one to this list!

My Lucas does the same thing--walks along the couch and rubs. I thought it was fleas but he is (almost) flea-free!

Default Cat like?

Marty's sister is definitely cat like but Marty is an odd breed.

He runs and hops like a rabbit, he recently chased a rabbit in the field next to our house and I'm sure hes beginning to suspect he maybe adopted! Rabbit dog or dog, either way, I love him.

Other odd behavior, he barks at dogs and people when we are walking. That maybe normal but I'd like to fix it. When we get to 'hand shake' distance, he stops barking and is excited to say hi. I would encourage good behavior, however he barks before I get a chance to positively reinforce him. I'll have to check other threads on behavior.

He met a Great Dane; 8 months old, 130 lbs! The thing was huge and not near full grown. Its amazing. i'm keeping track of the interesting dogs hes met, its fun.

He barks at moose(s) which we see often. He barked at horses a few weeks ago and I couldn't get him to calm down, so he never got a chance to greet them, I didn't want the horses to get any more scared.

Y'all, all this had me just DYING laughing!

Lily seems like lots of different animals to me too--my hubby and I were just talking about how weird she is the other day! She hops like a rabbit when she runs around the house, pounces on things like a cat (sticks her bottom in the air, wiggles, and then LEAPS) and bats things around on the floor, and she makes the guinea pig noises too. So, so cute!!!!! Love her!

Default Kitty Bunny !!

Pebbles is a kitty when she talks to you (like a meow) and a bunny no matter where she goes she does it hopping & jumping. When she goes down the flight stairs outside she skips the bottom two everytime. Is my Yorkie Part Cat?-pebbles-tongue.jpg

Post Lol

Haha, and here I thought I was the only one with a cat/rabbit-dog.
Dakota does the cat rub, but only on soft surfaces and furniture. She bounces and hops after her toys and around the yard, it is so cute to watch. She also likes to bat at bugs, and if she can catch one...she plays around with it on the ground, batting it back and forth and pouncing at it with her tail in the air. Dakota also like to dry herself off after I do. Does anyone else yorkie like to play with themselves in the mirror? Dakota will bark and pounce at herself in the mirror, or sometimes just sit a stare at herself for the longest time. More recently dakota has taken to laying down with her new "friend". She will lay down right next to the mirror and every so often check to see if her "friend" is still there. I am beginning to wonder if she is a little lonely sometimes?

This thread is getting very entertaining. So now I know with certainty, that I'm not the only one with a weird dog

Another member just reminded me of Cinderella and her hopping when she is running. Its the cutest thing because she reminds of a rabbit hopping away, but I have learned from the vet though that she is "hopping" because of some knee problem. I forgot the name...appararently its very common in Yorkshire Terriers. Have to keep an eye on her when she gets older.
So for now though, I just smile and laugh when she hops down the street. She's a crazy dog, but the little things she does that is not dog-like makes my heart melt over and over again

Sometimes I do think Tatum is part cat - when she jumps up ON TOP of the recliner (up on top of the headrest!) and lays there. I'm so afraid that she'll fall off but she seems to know what she's doing. We just always look up there before sitting down just in case.

And yes, she does the grunting thing sometimes like a pig! And yes, even the "peep" thing! It's not so much a bark, as a peep..... it usually means that she knows her bully stick is up on our bed and she can't get up there to get it.

Default Milo

I have an 8 week old Yorkie and he is just like my cat! (He even prefers the cat toys to his own.) He has a ball with a jingle in it and he chases it everywhere! When he's whining it sounds like a cat is bring tortured... I could do without that part. He's quite a piece of work... but we love him.

Ditto Molly she is part cat. She climbs up the fencing sits on top on the highest point in he room . I have a pic of her on top of a unit in the bedroom with her head just below the ceiling. She meows when she wants something and bats things with her paws. I think she's more cat than yorkie. Lol

My new oil breezy sounds like she purrs when she's cuddling , sounds like a mouse squeaking when she pouts and she gives a much louder purr before she crashes. I'm new at this and new to Yorkies too. She tickles me

Tibbe grinds/rubs against furniture edges and sometimes rubs/scratches his muzzle against the protruding corner of two walls in the hall bath, always reminded me of cat behavior. Even got into frequent head rubbing when he was 4 or 5 years, so, since he had accompanying GI symptoms and cyclical lethargy followed by next day friskiness, he was tested extensively for liver shunt/MVD and MVD Dx. made, hepatic diet started. I used to think this was liver shunt or microvascular dysplasia type rubbing but as he has no more of those symptoms other than this occasional body/head rubbing - especially when he wants to go potty outside or is feeling happy or frisky - I've decided it may not be. Could just be an acquired habit from when he was so ill.
