| The first picture is one of my favorites, it is two brothers (Huey and Gabe) in PA at a dog show waiting for their turn to show. Then my latest litter of fun. Here they are 9 weeks old.

First let me say that Murphy is gorgeous! Also, yes...I have heard of these satin balls. In fact...they have become a very big part of my life in the past three weeks. One of my Biewer girls is expecting her 1st litter this Monday...and she totally quit eating 3 weeks ago. I found out yesterday that she is expecting 6 puppies ...and this girl barely weighed 5 lbs before breeding. These satin balls and boiled chicken have been a life saver for me. I played around with the ingredients...and added some cream cheese and Vitamin D milk...and my girl loves it. Today she is becoming more picky as she is getting so big...she is running out of any room for food. Several small meals of boiled chicken and cheese slices got her eating again. She also gets her Nutri-stat twice a day. Tomorrow she will get her satin balls and buffalo steak.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I like the idea of the satin balls with cooked chicken and cream cheese. My website has just been updated so I will invite you to go look at Biewer pictures there. Here's two of the girls from Gabbi and Murphy's litter: |

| Satin Balls are for dogs who won't eat or you need to put weight on them. Small dog recipe 1 lb cheap hamburger (for the high fat content) 1 1/3 cups Total Cereal 1 1/2 cups uncooked oatmeal (not the instant, you want old fashion oats) 1 raw egg 6 Tablespoons wheat germ 1 package Knox unflavored gelatin 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil 2 Tablespoons unsulphered molasses pinch of salt Mix together like meatballs. Shape into balls or patties (patties thaw out faster). Do NOT cook or bake, serve raw. I have just started Murphy on them. He has been a "busy" boy and needs the extra calories. He had lost 1/2 pound, but when you are under 5 pounds to begin with that is a LOT. I also have a 5 lb and a 10 lb recipe for larger batches. I am sure if you do a search for Satin ball, you will find other recipes on-line |

| I don't know if this question has been addressed before, so if it has I apologize. These beautiful dogs are akc registered right? Why don't we ever see these at the large shows that I watch on TV? The Lab shows as different colors and if I am remembering right, the cocker spaniel shows as 2 or 3 different breeds based on color in the sporting class. You see them shown as black, ascob and parti, right? Why not with the Biewer? Just curious. They are so beautiful and I didn't even know they existed until I joined this site. |

| Thanks Kathy.. I've never heard of these but I have a "busy boy" too.. there always seems to be someone in season around here and poor Mr. Wicket doesn't eat the whole time thinking he's going to miss something I guess??? These may come in pretty handy. He really drops weight too and he also is right under 5 lbs.. I don't like it when they get so skinny!! Appreciate the help. -Diana

They are allowed to show with ARBA, IABCA, and NAKC. They show in the toy or companion category. The Yorkshire standard does not allow white or black (only blue). The Biewers also have a full tail that is not docked like the Yorkshire. This is because in Germany it is illegal to dock tails or remove dew claws. (Even the standard Yorkshires in Germany have tails.) Diana, I have also put Murphy's daily Angel Eyes in his patty. This will eliminate having to measure it out every day and putting it on soft food or treats. Man, I wish they would make AE in treats. That is how he gets his Omegas everyday.

| Thanks for the quick answer. I see new breeds are accepted to the akc occasionally. Maybe one day, I will see the Biewer as its own breed when I am watching Westminster on Animal Planet! |
