| (Scared Now) - Just used Frontline Plus Just when you think you have researched, learned and are comfortable that nasty anxiety cycle hits again! TJ and Roxy were on Revolution. Then I deceided that they really need protection from ticks. So the vet recommended Frontline and Interceptor for heartworm. I had read some threads here on YT and from my reading the concenious seemed to be Frontline Plus. The Vets office only had the Frontline Plus Gold (11-22 lbs), they assured me that this was the 'old' packaging and the new package is re-written to say up to 22lbs, but they are the same and they are good for TJ (3.5 lbs - 6 months) and Roxy (3.5 - 8 months). The Vets pricing was a bit much since I was buying for 2 babies, so I followed a thread from YT to www.fleaclub.com where the pricing is fair. I bought 2 packs of the 3 month supply (6 month total). Their packaging says the 11-22lbs, but going back to what the Vet said and looking around at the Frontline Plus packaging it does seem that the 11-22lbs and the up to 22lbs are the same. So, I felt comfortable in putting it on them. Here is where I am scared...I didn't know that you should wait like 3 days after they are bathed to put it on. Roxy was bathed and groomed on Sat. and I put it on her on Sunday, is that ok? The packaging doesn't say anything about 3 days...I will wait to bath them, but I do want to bath as soon as I can b/c that hair is so sticky there and they constantly play fit and I know that they are biting each there (not b/c of the Frontline, but b/c they always do). Is it bad that they taste it, or has time passed and it is dry and not harmful if they taste it? And now I just read that thread about Frontline Plus being bad for these small dogs and to use Frontline Top Spot! I can't win...I can't wait to get home to inspect them. Please, someone advise me! Do I continue with the Frontline Plus? I have another 2 months supply each. Should I use 1/2 the doesage on them (when I was putting it on them it did seem like sooooooooooo much)? They do not have fleas (I have never seen one, they are never really around any other dogs, except for the Vet and the Groomers) and they do not go galavanting around outside. We take short walks 2 times a week on a lease. I AM SO CONFUSED! I want to protect them but I do not want to hurt them. |

| Trust me, you will be fine. My vet gave my dog frontline plus before and I just gave it to her last week. And I will give it to her next month and the month after that. I think the 3 days wait period is so it can work properly. So soon after or before a bath probably takes away some of it's effectiveness is all. Your dog is and will be just fine.

| I use and will continue to use frontline plus...I think my package DOES say up to 22lbs., I wait 3 days but I think the box says you only have to wait 24 hours....don't worry I know a fellow maltese that is only 7 lbs and has been using it for a couple of years

| Your babies are fine. I have called the manufacturer about the discrepencies and they are re-labelling thier Plus packaging to reflect that it is safe for the smaller dog. They no longer make the one that does not say "PLUS" on the package. However, I DO NOT use a whole thingy on each dog. I use 1 thingy for 2 dogs. They have never had a flea or tick and I have been using it for many years. Sometimes their warnings a re a bit of over-kill and made to make us think before we just slap somethiing on our babies. I am sure you know by now that your younguns are fine and dandy.. |

| If you've been using it with no problem, don't start worrying now! If your babies were going to have trouble with it they would have had it from the beginning. Use what works for you, you know your babies better than anyone else and why fix something that isn't broke?

| You Guys Are Great! I know they are ok and they will be ok. Sometimes I just feak out, and I just felt like this time I did the research and the Frontline Plus was the way to go! Maybe next month I will use 3/4 of it and throw away the rest. It just seemed like I was putting it on and on and on and on and it was just seeping all over the hair. Thanks again for all your support... Last edited by TLC; 08-01-2005 at 09:18 AM. Reason: Adding... |

| I've used Plus on both of my dogs and never had any negative problems with it. I also split the vial between both dogs so neither gets the full dosage.. they aren't outdoors enough to need the whole thing and it's cheaper that way too.

| I use it too on both my yorkie and maltese. Have never had a problem with it but I too split the dose between my two dogs. However, I have had trouble with my maltese when I put Advantage on him so I'm sticking with Frontline Plus.

| Both Chloe, 7lbs and Lacey 3lbs use it, I have not seen a flea or tick on either of them since starting over a year ago, they had no reactions and truthfully, I keep forgetting about the waiting period so I'm sure I have bathed them at the wrong time. The only caution my vet had was not to put shampoo on that area because it would wash off and lose effectiveness. |

| Every dog is unique, just like us humans. So even though most dogs do not have a reaction to frontline plus, some may have, if it happens discontinue the use and try to find out what caused. If not...just keep using what works best for you.
