Just went through and read the other posts, so glad your Grandma decided to help you and pay for the spay. That was very nice of a fellow YTer to offer to pay for her spay, what a kind and generous person!

talk to your vet about taking payments then you can do it yourself or save the money for the spay

That makes me so sad, I truly wish people would stop seeing these furbutts as "cash cows". Their value is so MUCH more than monetary, the joy they give by happy little faces, yorkie head tilts and just being the sweetest babies if priceless. It's more than owning "just a dog", it's a friend, playmate and furchild. Please don't let anyone push you into making a decision you don't want, this is not their furbaby.

Go to Friends of Animals and look into getting a spay certificate to have it done yourself.

Are the vet records in your name, or your grandmothers? If they are in your name, then that is "proof of ownership." Unfortunately, if it is in someone else's name, then you (legally) may not be able to make any decisions on this dog.

My greedy neighbor had a tiny chi and bred her. She died and so did her pup because she couldn't pass it, and of course THEY weren't going to pay a vet bill to help her...

Are there any breeders here who can advise her on how to talk to her family about NOT breeding her little one?
