I know I can make my own decisions and I am, I am spaying her. I just want the fam to come around and see why I am so against it so I was looking for info to prove how hard it can be on the dog...Thanks for the concern!!

| Stay strong and don't give in to them. I think you should see if your vet will let you make payment plans... Is your name on all of her paperwork? My mom wanted me to breed Lola and told me it was easy also... when she was a kid their dogs had puppies all the time. She was upset that I wanted to spay her... I saved up my money ( i'm in college also ) made an appointment and took her in. Tell them your grandmother may have payed for her, but Abbey is YOUR baby and you will do what is in her best interest

| That is really sad that your family is putting you in such an uncomfortable situation. I also have an Abbey who is just four months old! She will definitely be spayed at six months! Abbey was given to you as a gift which makes her your babygirl! You have to do what is best for her.....she counts on you. Good luck with your family.

| My mother always said a gift is a gift and the person you give it to can do whatever they want with it because it is no longer yours! Good Advice! Stand up for yourself and do what you want to do. My Misty is 5 months old, but the vet said to wait until the second eye tooth comes in to spay her, as they don't lose the first one and have doubles. He said it was fine to wait until she was about 7 months. She is starting to get them now. The reason he said to wait, is so that they won't have to put her under twice! Pat |

| Great news!! Just talked to my grandma and had a long conversation. she basically agrees with me... Sent me this email... "Its ur dog and u have enough to do with out handling dogs wanting to get to her and then her pregnancy and then the delivery and then taking care of her and the pups and in an APT! Do it! I will send u the money when u get the bill. Shes urs, so do it!" I knew my grandma would come around, so I'm doing it, scheduling the appointment next week. My sister, mom, and aunt can just deal with it. BC she's my baby. Thanks again for the ideas, I will forward the info to my family.

| I'm glad your Grandma came around. My family wanted me to breed mine and my sister's dog. They all wanted free pups too, including my sis. Well, I went and got him neutered anywaway and that was that. Now my sister's dog is spayed too. I think your family will get over once they realize that what's done is done. |

| I am having the same issue.. except without the money. my family is not supporting me spaying my puppy. they are all so ignorant! they think i am doing the wrong thing and taking away opportunity. they say she is so pretty and will make pretty babies but she is like 3lbs and way too small! they think because i am getting a tiny male next month that i should breed them and basically "sell the winnings" ... ugh! |

YT 2000 Club Member | Oh boy, that's a tough one, specially for me, cause I'm not a nice person when it comes to the ignorance (I'm by no means slamming your family) of people wanting to breed furkids like that and for stupid reasons. My hubbies cousin wants to breed his lil mix with Maggy May and I laughed in his face and told him in his dreams, she's getting spayed and even if she wasn't getting spayed, she's not having pups. He said, but they'd make such cute puppies! I said, ya, they would, and I don't care, she still isn't being bred with anything! I'd simply put my foot down and tell them you're not letting her be bred with anything, period. She's YOUR furkid and you're doing what's best for her and if they get mad, oh well, they'll eventually get over it. These furkids depend on us to do what's right for them and we need to stand up for them, even if it means disappointing family members. Sorry I couldn't be of much help, I hope you can find a peaceful resolution to this situation.
