YT 2000 Club Member | Speaking Of heart Attacks!! Here in Ohio were I live, we had some pretty strong wings come through today. I was sitting in here reading YT when I heard the kids scream. I took off through the house and they were yellin, the tree just fell on Darlenes house!! (Darlene is our neighbor.) I took off out the door and her truck was there, all I could think was her and Cody were inside and the tree had went through the roof and if she was up in her room laying down, she could be pinned in her bed. I ran as fast as I could to her door (dangerous I know, but still) anyhow, as I was beating on her door trying to get in and screaming, I looked over and saw my 18 year old son coming through the driveway right in the path of the tree if it were to fall the rest of the way off the edge of the house. I started screaming GET BACK, GET BACK, but he kept coming towards me, I got hysterical and finally he listened to me and got back. My God, I was scared to death!! My son isn't replaceable. When I ran to her door, I ran way around the path of the tree had it came the rest of the way off the house, not Bub, he just came running towards me! Good Lord, I swear I could have had a heart attack right then and there!! My hubby called 911 and the fire department came out, the tree is actually a tree that split off into 4 parts, one part is on her roof STILL, the landlord next door owns the tree and he can't get anyone out here till tomorrow. Another part of the tree is leaning towards the other neighbors house and I'm scared it's gonna give way. Can you believe they are all still STAYING in the houses??? NO WAY would I do that!! We offered for them to stay here butt hey said they were gonna just stay at their places and sleep downstairs in their livingrooms If the winds kick back up here tonight that tree's gonna come off there, it's just hangin on by the edge. It'll take out the garage and our dogs outside kennel, our shed and my turtles pen! I had the kids stay on our back porch and watch that tree while I ran out and grabbed my turtle out of her pen, no way was I leaving her out there to be killed should that tree come down!! Ya know how they show in the movies when someones tryin to unlock something and they're really scared and they keep putting the wrong key in or putting the key in the wrong way over and over again? Well let me tell ya, it's realllly like that!! Daisy has two locks on her outdoor cage cause I didn't want anyone stealing her or a coon or dog getting her, trying to get those unlocked had me being Miss Fumble Fingers let me tell ya!! She's in the house with us now in a rubber maid bin but hey, at least she's safe! Our poor furkids knew there was something going on, all of them were barking and carrying on. Hopefully that tree doesn't fall the rest of the way off the house tonight and everyone stays safe!! Please say a lil prayer for our neighbors if you pray and have time. Thanks a bunch!

| ack I just lost a big post I was trying to send!! darn! Well I was saying about 8 or so here we had really heavy winds pick up, the sky went almost black and we got worried! Told the kids to go downstairs and watch some TV. DH and I went back outside to look around. thats when we saw 3 diff swirls in the sky/clouds that looked like they were trying to form rotations!!ACK! Luckilly they passed, but its the winds that were bothering us. Last year around this time our area was hit by some major straightline winds which did some tremendous damage in our area. No power for 2 weeks, trees down everywhere, trees on houses, cars, roads along with electrical lines on everything too! What time did these winds happen where you live? I'm wondering how close we are to each other?!?! BTW I do hope your settled back down by now! I know those kind of things freak me out and I can't get settled for some time. Thats when the ativan or valium come in handy lol! Last edited by erino77; 06-09-2008 at 10:35 PM. Reason: sp |

YT 2000 Club Member | I'm pretty settled right now, just can't sleep worrying about that darn tree. I actually just got up and walked to the door and looked out to make sure it was still there and hadn't fallen and took out the garage and stuff. I hope someone is here in the morning to cut it down safely. I know Lil Miss Maggy May sure won't be going out there tomorrow, heck, the sound of saws alone would scare the crap outta her. It's a big tree so it's gonna take a while to cut down and cut up. Not gonna be a fun day trying to take the bigger dogs out to the potty with strangers running all through there.

YT 2000 Club Member | OMG, it is a small world!! That's really neat that we live so close together, we're practically neighbors!! Years back we used to live out in that same county. We lived in a real small town right outside of Shreve (lived in Shreve years back to, lol.) I can't remember the name of the town though, I'd have to ask my hubby. It was an amish community though and just so peaceful and quite. My hubbies brother actually lives out in Ashland County, they recently bought a home there. Last year with those storms, their roof got half ripped off, sure wasn't a lot of fun for them after just gettin moved in and then have those storms hit like they did! How ya liking this heat we're getting? It's HORRID outside through the day, I can't stand it!!

YT 2000 Club Member | I actually just jumped out of my chair a few minutes ago and took off running outside, I heard a big bang, thought for sure the tree fell, but, it hasn't, it's still laying on the very edge of Darlenes house roof. I don't know what the noise was I heard, the other half hasn't fell on the other house yet, just hope it wasn't yet another tree around here. We're stayin safe though, hubby and all the kids are all in bed sleepin (skin, fur, shell and scale, lol.)

YT 2000 Club Member | You know, this is gonna sound really horrible, but I really stink with names, lol. For some reason, Funk sounds familiar though. I'll have to ask my hubby and see if he remembers the names and help me find out why it sounds familiar to me, lol. I used to work out at Schecks IGA when we lived out there, I was a cashier for about a year. We only lived in Shreve for about 3-4 years but I love the community, it's such a peaceful small town. Do you ever go over to Shreve anymore? Every now and again we still drive to Shreve and go driving through the swamps, I love looking at all the turtles out there, plus hubby likes to throw a line and see what he can catch. I remember years back living out there when we had a HUGE storm, there were lawn chairs and swimming pools flying down through the streets in town, it was bad, really bad.

| That was scary just to read your post. Be safe and I hope they get the rest of that tree down ASAP. No way would I be staying in either of those houses until that tree was safe and sound on the ground. Take care, |
