| Do you think about how close you live to an emergency vet? As per my other post, I am lucky enough to have an emergency vet, animal hospital, 5 minutes away from me and unfortunately have had to use them on several occasions. Only one time did it end up being a true emergency and I had to put my beloved Oreo to sleep because of internal bleeding. It didnt change the outcome, but it would have been worse to watch him suffer any further if I had not been so close to the vet. The other times have been me over reacting to symptoms, like that damn reverse sneezing thing, before i knew what it was, but Im still glad they were there. I didnt move here, obviously because of the vet being close, but now I think that when I move this will be a factor to consider. I dont think I would ever want to be far away from help. I feel the same way about people hospitals too though. I tend to think in some cases people on YK are a little over the top, but in this case, I guess I am the same. Anyone else feel the same or think about this? |

| I actually chose my vet 'because' she was in a clinic that had 24 emergency service and was close to my home

| I did the same thing. My vet is 24/7. I've seen several different vets in the clinic and have liked them all. And even for regular visits (not emergencies), there's no additional fee for weird hours, so I can take her for normal checkups and stuff whenever I can. I don't have to take off work or anything.

| The closest e-vet is at least an hour away (i'm not 100% sure, but i'm assuming Savannah is big enough to have an emergency vet) The vets in my town say they are available afterhours for an emergency and they will get right back to you if you call, but when my friends chi. got attacked by her black lab at about 9pm one night she called every vet in the phonebook (6ish) and only one called her back.. it wasn't her normal vet, but she took her little one there anyway since it was a life or death matter. Her vet didn't call her back until almost noon the next day.

| We use to be an hour away from the emergency animal hospital, but now we are only about 5 to 10 minutes away. That is such a relief and also we are only 2 minutes away from the human emergency room!

| I am blessed with my vet practice. They are about 15 minutes from me and they have a vet on call 24/7. I have had to use the after hours services several times and each time from the time I placed my initial call to actually seeing a vet was under 30 minutes. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have one within 7 minutes and unfortunately I am well known there. If I were to move I would definately check out the er vet situation as mine seem to always get sick on weekends and evenings.

| We have been blessed with a wonderful vet just a few minutes from our home. They have several Vets on staff, one of them is even a full MD but she decided her true love was animals so she chose to go to vet school after medical school. We also have a Veterinary Dentist, one of only about 100 world wide, a nutritionist and a behaviorist on staff. Our vet is within a small complex that includes the vet, an office for the local Humane Society, a grooming salon, a training facility and a doggie boutiqe where they sell all the cutsie stuff (clothing, strollers etc...) along with home made doggie treats. They are also an emergency vet facility...all I have to do is call the office number and someone will meet me at the there...no need for strange vets to try and treat my dogs and no running around town to find an emergency facility. Our vet also breeds and shows her dogs and the other vet we use writes a weekly column for our local paper. Yes, we have been truly blessed with the vet we found here and I will really miss them when we leave this area! |
