| I plucked the ear hair myself!! Its been at least a month since we went to the vet and he plucked chloes ear hair when she had the ear infection. So it was getting pretty hairy in there. But I decided to try to do it myself and she actually didnt give me a hard time. It was fairly easy. I am so proud. I have also been using this ear cleaning solution from petsmart and so far we are doing good with no more ear infection for a couple of weeks. YAY!

| Shana, could you give us some info/instruction on how you did it? If i go near Chewy's ears, it's like I'm committing murder! |

When the vet did it over a month ago chloe screamed for her life but I think that was just because her ears were already so sore from infection. But today she squirmed a little but she was otherwise very cooperative. Trust me I am a wimp so if she hadnt been cooperative i wouldnt have attempted to do it. But I did wait until she wore herslf out playing so she would be tired and calm. Maybe that helps

She had a lot too, I couldnt even see in her ear at all. Its amazing how far down it goes. I tried to pluck enough out so that I could actually see in her ear to clean it good. SHe didnt get sqirmy with me until towards the end so honestly I think I am going to go back tommorrow and pluck some more. When the vet did it there was no hair left in the ear. We are almost there but not quite. Oh yea and when I pluck her hair I pluck it quickly. Just like when you pluck your eyebrows- quick and painless

| I used to try and pull it out with my fingers and she would cry and scream and be awful. Then I started putting the cleaner in there first to make it kinda wet so I could see better and I use tweezers to pluck and she doesn't cry at all now. AND we use lots of yummy treats, everytime I pluck even a little she gets a treat. |

| Good job!! I pluck Missy & Max's ear hair every other week its really easy and they dont seem to mind. I am glad you gave it a try and it went so well Gerry, I pluck Missy & Max's after their bath. I try to get most of the hair out. They dont seem to mind and know its part of their grooming ritual so they allow it. Do you groom Chewy yourself or take him to the groomers?

| OUCH! I need to do this to Sully's I guess....never thought about the possibility of ear infections - and I don't think they plucked his ear hair when he was groomed at PetSmart 2 weeks ago? Not that I noticed anyway.

| well I have been doing all of chloes grooming myself. I have even trimmed her hair and stuff. The only thing left that I couldnt do was the ear plucking and whatever the anal gland thing is that they do(still havent attempted as I have no idea what this is ). I kinda want to avoid taking her to the groomer as I am too afraid they will actually give her a haircut intead of a trim and I am EXTREMELY picky about hair. Just ask my motherin law who owns a hair salon and does my hair lol! My friend just took her yorkie to the groomer and it used to have gorgeous silky long hair and its all choppy looking now. So I guess that was my motivation to pluck tonight.
