| cries and rips everything in his cage! We have had our yorkie for 10 days. Everytime we have to put him in his cage he cries non-stop and rips up the blankets or whatever we have in there. How can we get him like his cage? |

| Not every puppy likes to be crated. Is it possible to let him be free in one room like the bathroom or kitchen with a gate up. Or get an x-pen where he's secure but free. Must be something that is upsetting to him. Perhaps he is not used to being crated at all and wants out. I would listen to your puppy or you may not get the results you want as far as training. A happy puppy is trainable. There's a reason for eveything dog's do, we need to listen to them. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | When I got Pixie she was 13 months and had been in the runs like your baby and she hated the crate, she actually tore her way out of the playpen. Since she was older Ijust ended up letting her loose in the bedroom, that was puppy proofed and wee wee pads all around. Roxie was fine and Dixie but I have other dogs so they are not alone and I do not work so they were not confined long. Can you put him in a bathroom or make a run out of a expen so it is more what he is use to? I do think he will settle in he is just more sensitive and use to being with other puppies.

| Pao used to be crated at night next to my bed when we sleep so that he doesn't roam around without my knowledge as I was afraid he might end up accidentaly eating something that he is not supposed to but when he whines for potty, I will be up with him. As he grows older, he doesn't like the crate and now he totally hates it. I gave him his freedom to the whole house (500 sq ft condo then) when I knew I can trust him and I never go back to the crate thing again.

| You can do things like feed him in his cage or put him in their when he is sleeping but leave the door open. I found tips like that online so you can just google it. They said to make it inviting and also not make it seem that they only go in there when you leave. I put Riley in the cage every time he is sleeping, whether I am home or not. If those dont work, you could use the bathroom as a place to keep the dog while you are gone. |

| try to make the crate FUN thing ,. so when he goes in give him a treat. just a little of his own food.. and praise him when he stays relax,. when he starts to rip the place apart,. say NO. Dont put him in when he is been naughty or something.; and when ou put him in do it when your in the room too so he can see you.. Then he knows its fun and a good thing. Good luck and i hope it will be allright, just give him some time. |

| As stated in previous responses, make it a good thing. Put his toys in or treats. Make sure that everytime you put him in there, there is something he associates with being in there that is good. I used to put a sherpa lamp toy and a chewing bone in there with Hot Rod. I also would put him in it when he fell asleep with the door open. As he has grown, I put an actual bed that he loved in their for him to sleep in. Now he goes in at night, no problem. Good luck.
