Senior Yorkie Talker | OMG...Say What? My sister showed her boy-friends family some pictures of my baby boy Lyric and they told her to ask me for more pictures because they didn't believe he was a yorkie and thought he was a mix, because he looks nothing like there yorkie. I spent almost an hour on the phone with him trying to explain that there is only one yorkie breed but they weren't convinced. Well today I decided to browse pictures of different yorkie hair cuts and I came across this site. And it said something about teacup yorkies there were a lot of things that were red flags but this is what stood out in my mind. "Teacup Yorkies are very rarely seen in shelter populations and have retained their breed elegance by dedicated breeders that know and understand the breed standard. Understanding the standard of the Teacup Yorkies and the genetics in the breed may take many years. Not understanding the standard of the Teacup Yorkies to deteriorate to a “me too” breed that is over bred and ends up in shelter populations. This is not what you want for the Teacup Yorkies, or for any breed of Teacup Yorkies. That the "Teacup Yorkies was neither terrier nor spaniel. Rather, he should correctly be referred~ " There is no standard to the teacup yorkie because there is no such thing. I have no clue what the last part means? They only have a health guarantee or life insurance guarantee if your puppy costs over 2,000.00 They do have pictures of celebrities from people that have purchased a dog from there. But that doesn't make it right. I couldnt get the link right but its wizardofclaws.com

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | The Wizard of claws os NOTORIOUS for getting rich off the backs of dogs - and will say anything to sell a puppy - They've been around way too long and I had thought finally were shut down - actually - one of their stores was shut down if I remember right - then they opened up under another name yet the website is still up ? I guess they're still mis-informing the public and selling puppies and that's terrible.....THEY SUCK ! do a net search with their name - you'll see alot of pages about them ...at least there used to be. I watched something about them on the news years ago and it made me sick. and ps - you're right - there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie - it's just a selling term and many times used only to charge higher prices...but there are tons and tons of people that think there is such a thing. It's one thing to say it describing a very tiny dog - but the word is very misused and now unethical breeders use it to command very high prices for a yorkie

| I happen to live right down the street from Wizard of Claws. Fours years ago I bought my male yorkie from them. At the time I wasn't aware of their reputation. It's really a strange way they sell puppies. It's located in a strip mall and constantly changing names. Inside the place is really dark and creepy. They don't let you see where they keep all the puppies. They bring out one pup at a time for you to look at. So there isn't a way to compare all the pups. The whole experience was just very strange. I was a Yorkie novice at the time when I bought my boy Trevor. Luckily, he is now a beautiful babydoll faced 3lb yorkie. Although he did have a few health and emotional issues as a pup. But I would not recommend them. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | another disgusting trick is underfeeding them to 'look' smaller .. I didn't know those 2 were still active and in business - it seems that people are still shopping pet stores & falling for all that BS they put out there. I put WOC up there right with Pet Land - both are BAD BAD PLACES |
