Fighting????????? HELP Hi all, need some advice please. I have a 3 year old Yorkie girl (Marnie) who i bred and is the 'Top Dog' in a clan of 3 girls and 1 dog. I recently was given a yorkie girl aged 18 months called Maisey. At first all was fine, Maisey came into season after been with me only 1 week, mated with my stud dog,and im expecting a litter end of June. Suddenly, Maisey and Marnie have had a go at each other. I give each the same attention, but ive noticed that Maisey is 'Squaring Up' (Challenging) Marnie - and they both had another go at each other a few days ago and again todday. It really is begining to worry me, as the other dogs all get along just fine - any ideas what it could be?? PLEASE PLEASE HELP. THANKS

this is very common in hormonal girls!!!!!LOL Bitch fights seem to me much worse than stud dog fights. Sometimes the only thing you can do is to separate them. Someone always will challenge the "alpha" dog or bitch in the group.

I am sorry you are having this problem but this is a very common and very serious problem that can occur among unspayed females. For their protection I recommend you keep them separated, at least until have they have pups. Some yorkies will actually kill or badly injure another yorkie.

Oh thanks, it really has worried me, as my other girls get along just fine, there is no vicious or nasty streak in them, and im really worried wat maisey will be like when the pups are born end of June. Do you think they will eventually settle???

I have some girls that show dominance by hovering over one or the other but they do not actually fight. From my experience once the bad fighting starts it will only gets worse and they have to be separated. Over the years I have had several alpha bitches that got along great with males but not females. Also, bringing in a female from the outside can cause this type of problem. If possible you will have to keep them in separate rooms or x-pens. Be extra careful when they both have puppies on the ground because the fighting can get really bad then if they get together.
