Be careful about latching kennels or crates for your Yorkie! We bought one of those animal fences that bend and you can make it into any shape. It connects with three little latches. Well I only latched the bottom one because my Yorkie is so tiny and I figured she couldnt get out. Well, I heard her scream and ran in to find that she had managed to pry the pieces of the fence where they latch apart enough to try and jump over the bottom part that I had latched and she was hanging in midair and couldnt go forward or backward so PLEASE be sure to latch ALL of the latches on kennels and crates, even if you think your puppy/dog is too short!!! Ours was hanging by her neck!! Im glad I was home too!! |

When you're dog is outside a lot like in grass or wooded areas make sure you when you pet them you check down on their skin occasionally. Check for ticks, cuts, or abnormal areas. I found this 'bubbled' spot on my doxie one time. Turns out it was an infected cut and he needed antibiotics. Also, I was at my groomers and I was petting their pet yorkie under the neck. There was a lumpy area. I told her and she felt it. She had no idea it was there. I dont know the result but I knew she left shortly after to the vets. So love and pet those babies! :D |
I think this goes without saying. Never leave your pup alone with young children! |
