| When will her ears stand up? Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum as well as being a new yorkie owner. I've had Sasha for a week now and she's 9 weeks old. I plan on getting pictures up as soon as I can figure out how. Is it too soon to be worrying that her ears aren't standing up? When do they generally start standing up on their own? A sales associate in PetSmart also told me that sometimes the hair on the tips of their ears need to be clipped because it can weigh them down. Any truth to that? I can't have her groomed yet because she's not done with all of her shots. Any comments will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to having more dicsussions here. I have a lot of questions but I'm going to peruse the forum first because I'm sure the answers are floating around. |

| Welcome to YT! You will find lots of friends and information here! Yes, keeping the tips of their ears shaved will help her to hold up her ears. I would take her to a groomer just for the ear tipping and nail trimming. Teething can also cause them to fall down. When you have her spayed, get all her baby teeth pulled that haven't fallen out by then and that will also help her. Having her spayed before a first heat (6-12 months old) will also help prevent some cancers later on in life. Good luck!! Hope you get some pictures posted soon!! We love seeing pictures of al the babies!! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome and congratulations! You can just hold her while a groomer shaves the ears it takes less than a minute and will help the ears come up.

| Hi there! I got my pup and both of her ears were down. We LOVED it. Then at about 3 months old or so one of them stood up. The other was still down till about a week or two later. I like them down so I dont care if they fall again. We didn't shave her ears for them to stand or anything like that...they did all on their own. I'm sure your's will too. |

| Onni's ears stood when she was 6 weeks old. A friend told me her babies ears did not stand until he was almost 5 months old. I guess they are all different.

| Bikini's ears when up and down until about 6 months. I tought they would not remain up. But now they do. When she is tired or something is going on one ear goes back down... Also, at three months they where both up and when down in her teething period! I kept them shaved at the end until at least 8 months to make sure they would stay up. But anyway her ears were, she is so cute!

| Only 1 of my 3 have ears that stand up. I was disappointed but now it really doesn't matter at all. I think it has to do with breeding & not what you do or don't do. |

| That's funny. I was told to start playing with her ears so she would get used to the vet and groomers manipulating them. But she seems to already love having her ears rubbed. |
