| Hello all once again!! I'm finally leaving for Florida (tomorrow)! and I decided to leave my Yorkie at home and have my cousin come over 2x per day to feed him and play with him. Quick question.... is 2x per day enough??? She'll be over once in the morning at like 11am then once at night at about 7-8? My Yorkie is used to having someone there through the nite and part of the days. I'm scared that he'll be in trouble all alone through the nite with no one around?! Any advice? Maybe leaving a tv on? He is going to be staying in an enclosed area, cut off by a gate from the living room.

| Yes, I'd say leave the TV on, that and/or some classical music. Is there any way your cousin can take your Biggie on a walk, or perhaps take Biggie for the night? |

| leaving dog with trusted friend I leave my baby with the groomer she has come to know Know & love. This works well with me bc the groomer has Children who play nicely with my baby. And when I pick Her up she's been groomed and smells good & looks good. Good luck to you.

| Leaving him at home and having your cousin come in twice a day sounds like the best option. He will be in familiar surroundings and won't be exposed to any new germs or diseases. And if he has any accidents, it won't upset your cousin. He won't be as happy home alone as when you are there, but he will be safe. Just stress to your cousin to be sure to keep him away from the front door and don't take him outside without a leash, even if you have a fenced yard. People who aren't accustomed to watching animals and/or who don't have one of their own don't always realize how quickly a dog can get away from them. And since Biggie isn't bonded to your cousin he might not respond to them calling him. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and we got often got calls from people who had been petsitting for a friend and "lost" the dog when they forgot to close a gate or latch a door. |

| I can understand your dilemma regarding leaving Biggie. I would not enjoy my vacation worrying about my pet everyday. Maybe you should put off this year and prepare for a future vacation when you have a proper and safe environment for Biggie.

| Oops. I should have looked at the date. How do these posts resurface after 8 years?
