| ![]() I love floopy ears on a yorkie. I know it isn't the way they are *suppose* to be but I think it gives them the most sweet look. Both my girls ears point straight up lol Anyway, her vet never should have said something like that. I hope she does decide to join here, no better way to see how many shapes and sizes these little dolls can come in.

| ![]() Mine weigh 11lbs and 13lbs. Sounds like you found another vet that doesn't know what he's talking about. Tiny, large, ears up, ears down, with tails, without tails----but still 100% Yorkie

| ![]() She has tried to tape the ears a couple of times but the tape never stays in for more than a day and the ears end up flopping back down. By what age do they need to be taped by to stand up? Do some dogs have ears that are too thick to stand up even if taped? I don't think it will really make a difference to her if the ears end up staying floppy because they are cute too- she just wanted her puppy to have the typical "yorkie" look with the ears that go up. She asked the vet if she should tape them and she basically told her not to bother because she was not a purebred and they probably would not go up anyway. I think she will be looking for a new vet too! Thanks for all the great stories everyone has shared about their experiences with larger yorkies! |

| ![]() Yep. I just took my 'Melia to the vet yesterday and she weighed in at 10 lbs. Up a whole pound from a couple of months ago when she got her microchip!

| ![]() Not everyone knows Yorkies come in different sizes. What bother's me it why the vet did not know this? I guess she dosen't have many Yorkie clients. To be honest I would personally look for another vet. I am sorry she upset you mother because of her lack of knowledge. There are many larger Yorkie's on this site as you just found out. LOL Buddy is one and a prue breed. Not all ears stand up. Perhaps if she have them shaved down 1/3 of the way they will come up on their own. At times the hair is heavy on the tips and prevent's the ears from coming up. Hope that helps. Tell mom to join us and look around at all the beautiful larger Yorkies. She has a treasure and dosen't yet know it. Enjoy, enjoy. |

| ![]() Well, Miss Crickett went to have her spay surgery last friday and weighed in at 9.8lbs. Vet said she was beautiful and VERY healthy!! She is an absolute teapot.BOL!!! She is only 7 months old so she will probably grow some more. I love her though and she is still a little dog to me. I could not imagine have one that is only 3-4lbs. I have a westie and a 6 yr old son. I am glad for her size.

| ![]() I am getting a new furbaby Saturday. Just found out today that she is 2-lbs. at 8 1/2 weeks. That seems large to me. My other little baby was only 1.3oz at that age. The parents are 4 and 5 lbs. Does this mean she is going to be a larger yorkie? |

| ![]() I do not have a larger Yorkie, or a "teapot", mine are 7.5 and 3lbs. BUT I would just like to say they are just as darling!!! I would really LOVE to have a big floppy ear boy!! Even though they do not fall in the AKC standards, they still deserve all the love we have to give. If any one has one available, let me know! hehehe... ![]()

| ![]() I was just wondering if they can be 2 lbs. at 8 wks and still be a 5 lb. or less furbaby. Both parents were small. My Little Zoe' I lost in Dec. at the age of 4 and she was only 4 lbs. So I guess I was looking for a baby around that weight so I could carry her around with me. Well, maybe this baby will be around 5. I now I will LOVE her no matter what. |
