White Blaze on Fore Chest

I just had one born with a huge white blaze on his chest. I named him "Patches". He is adorable. There is a parti-gene carrier listed on the pedigree of the father but I've seen these white patches turn to silver blue later too !! I KNOW he is full AKC Yorkie and its like eye colors, the gene can be recessive and two brown eyed parents can have a blue eyed child. We are all a bit mixed AND I too LOVE LOVE your response. My Yorkies are my children and one best not call one of them ugly

I thought both parents had to carry the parti gene for the pup to be a carrier but I could be wrong Im not a parti owner. You could do a search on here though there are alot of parti threads

Dont fret....your baby can be 300% Yorkie and this white blaze on his chest, if larger than 1" diameter, is nothing more than a "color fault"....just like if the gold on his head should mingle farther into the body color at the base of his skull! He is FINE and this is not a problem unless you are planning to show. If he has more white on his chest, chin, or toes, he is more than likely a white gene carrier, a carrier of the parti gene,....again, not a "problem" for you, unless you are breeding traditional colored show dogs. As his color matures, the white may even decrease in size, but you dont have to worry....you wont wake up some morning and find him covered in white spots, or looking like a Dalmation! The white on him may diminish, but it wont increase! Do you show? Are you breeding? If not, you have no concerns or issues with your baby!

I was wondering that to. My Luci had white chest at 10 weeks. Now at almost 9 months she has the light silver on her whole chest, Very light silver. Darn I wish I was computer savy so I could load some pictures. In my eyes she is the most beautiful yorkie ever and i would love her no matter what color she is. She is AKC registered. I called the breeder and asked about parti color she did not know what I was talking about. I seen her parents he was black with tan, and she was silver with blonde. Luci's brother , is black,silver,red and blonde. My daughter has him. Thanks Anne/Luci.

Yes I did, they have mostly dark bodies and light tan heads. Quite silky too. Garrett is more cottony I would say, thick and fluffy.

This describes our Dinky perfectly. He is not a little bit cottony, but he has a very thick coat. His white spot is more "blond" now at age 2 1/2 years.

both of mine have a white chest...Mom and Dad are both parti gene carriers, so I suspect my two would be as well? No matter to me, I dont show or breed, I just love them to the moon and back!

Oh you are too funny. Good for you ! Some pups are born with white and they disappear when they get older. Hey there is never anything wrong with a little white . . . . Just as Galen
