Actually, it isn't unusual at all. The people telling you this must not be real familiar with yorkies. I do, however, think it is more prominent in some lines than others.

Garrett is a cutie! About him being a cotton coat, I thought that about Jamie too when he was a baby. Turned out that it was just puppy coat and when all that grew out and got cut off, he had the most beautiful silky coat.

Blaze has a white patch on his chest as well. He also had white on his back paw but it never came back once I had him groomed. His chest stayed white though!

He is soooooooooooo cute!!! My Huckleberry also has a lot of white like your little man. I love the white on them...I think it's adorable!

Ooooh, I'm so glad someone posted a thread on this! My Ringo has a white blaze on his chest as well and we have also gotten comments questioning if he was a pure-bred pup. Well he is, and the white blaze was actually what made us choose him from the rest of the puppies in the litter (it makes him look so handsome!). I would post some pics, but I seem to have lost the cable for the digital camera and I can't get them on the computer

Since the subject of a white blaze came up. Dante was born with a perfect 5 point star on his chest. as he grew it has seemed to grow with him but lost the star shape. he is 9 1/2 months old and I am wondering isn't it supposed to be showing some signs of disappearing. His parents were a blue and gold dam and a blonde sire. His coloring is also very unique. His tan areas are like a sun Blonde and his blue area is a mixture of silver, blue, darker blue and it seems to have pale gold highlights.

I too loved Garrett's white blaze when I saw him, it looked like he was wearing a dark suit, with a white shirt under it

i forgot to say that most of the time that white chest will turn into a beautiful tan or gold color and the coat will be silky.

my bella had 4 pups and 2 of the four had the white blaze on their chest, and i know she and the dad are full yorkie.....good thread tho! i wondered myself what that blaze meant
