I'm so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to believe our sweet little yorkies could be like that but they are just doing what is instintive to them. Rehoming her to a family without any other dogs or small children seems the best suggestion. |
What a terrible situation to be in but for the safety of your other dogs I would rehome her to a home without other pets or children. If she's not sick in anyway that is. I hope you get the strengh to do what you know should be done. Prayer's coming your way to keep you strong. Those poor pups who lost thier lives. How sad. Hugs, |
I know this has to be absolutely heartbreaking. Kayla can be pretty aggressive and its only to her best interest that Tina and Mandy just tolerate her. When Max was alive he loved Mandy, hated Tina. He got her a couple of times and she had to be sewed up. The vet said (even after he was fixed) not to leave them alone unsupervised. It got alot better after we had him fixed but we still had to be real careful. What really helped, Tina got where she would submit to him and not push it. Guess she got tired going to the vet for stitches. lol!! I know its terrible what you have been through. Scares me to death when they fight and the breeder said females can be as bad if not worse than males. Hope things work out for you. I know it would be terrible to have to have her put down and lose yet another one. |
Every has given you some great advices here and I just wanted to give you a big . I am so sorry for your loss, its hard enough losing 1 but losing 3 is devastating. My condolences to you and your family during this rough time. :love-hug1 |
I'm so sorry. Perhaps you should have her spayed and put into a single-pet home with NO children. Make sure that the owners are very aware of her agression. I know that this is hard to hear (and may seem mean) but if a dog has killed 2 dogs...I think that she should be put to sleep. Its just safer. A dog that attacks like that just is not happy. I'm so sorry. Big hugs. |
Can I ask, how old is Lollie? |
I'm so sorry this has happened. If I were you, i would rehome her to a family that doesn't have any other dogs or small children. She would probably do best there. |
I am so very sorry for your losses. I am like the others in that you must keep her separate. My friend has several dogs and she got a new dog Tori and she hates her older dog Pepper. She keeps them separate all the time. She takes turns with one sleeping with her one night and the other sleeping with her the next night. Tori shows no aggression towards any of the other dogs. I just don't see how you can ever keep them together again. It seems that you will either have to re-home her or the others. She obviously needs to be the only pet. I sure hope things work out for you. You will be in my prayers. |
My sincere sympathies-- I'm a hobby breeder and this happened to me last winter and I can't tell you how very heartsick I still am over it. I learned the hard way what a real danger this is with intact dogs. It's at least partly due to hormonal changes. One of my smaller girls I knew could be a little pushy with the others and one day she attacked a girl twice her size who I'm sure killed her in self defense. I am now extra careful about keeping them in pairs, arranged by where they are in their estrus cycles. The large girl that killed the small one has a large pen to herself when unsupervised. I'm very very sorry for you. |
loss I am ever so sorry for you. I have had girls who hated each other...but once separated they were fine with all the others, they remained separated from the "hated one" the rest of their life....but if I had a female who acts as yours has, I would find a single dog home and warn the new owners she must never be around other dogs...if she shows the slightest aggressivness to children, then I would have her put down...some chances can not be taken. |

sorry but i would not in any put this dog to sleep. I think its soo easy these days to just put a dog to sleep whenever its not going our way. I know thats not what yall are saying. I think that you need to work with her, find a behavior therapist. I would think after the first kill you wouldnt have got another puppy around her or bred her again if that was the case. Im not saying its your fault but i do think you need to choose between her or your other dogs. Find her someone that has no other dogs and has time to work with her. sorry for your loss! I hope i didnt sound to harsh! |
I'm really sorry about what happened to your baby. Have thought about talking to a trainer? |
I knew another breeder that had a male that killed several older puppies and they had some adult females get killed too. They finally wised up and rehomed the male. It is sad. Over the years I have had some females that would get into horrible fights and I would just have to keep them separate from the others. Once the bad fighting starts it usually just gets worse. I am sorry for your loss. |
mabe you need to wrie to the dog whisperer |
How heartbreaking. I am so very sorry. |
I dont have any advice. But I know your heart must be breaking (((((((HUGS))))))))) |
My heart goes out to you. Losing a family pet is always heartbreaking. {{{{Hugs}}}} I can tell you from experience that terriers in general have the ability to be very agressive. We had a female Jack Russell and a female Mini Snauzer; both terriers and they got along great until one day for no apparent reason they changed and began to fight terribly, we knew it was only a matter of time before one of them died, so we re-homed our Mini Snauzer. Our female JRT was fine after that. I would recomend either making Lolly the only dog or consider re-homing her. I would not have her put down, she is a terrier and doing what terriers do naturaly, being territorial. I would not however give her another opportunity to be territorial with another dog or child. My prayers are with you and I hope that you are able to find a solution that is good for your family and Lolly. |
oh my goodness. I didn't even know this could happen, except perhaps to little puppies. What an eye-opener. I am so sorry. |

Let me first say that I'm not in any way trying to start anything or put this owner down, because I know that this is really hard for her. But here's what I feel like I have to say. If this had been any breed of dog that a lot of the people on here don't like (pit, GS, rottie), then no one would disagree with having this dog pts. Because its a yorkie, its nearly impossible to picture her being aggressive - or rather, no one wants to. But Lollie has killed 3 dogs - three! People on here...if anyone even mentions a big dog biting a small dog, people say that it should be put to sleep. Lollie has killed 3 dogs - who knows what she would do if she got ticked off around a small child or someone ELSE'S dog? I'm really sorry. I'm not a mean person and I'm not trying to hurt Lollie's mom's feelings...but I don't believe that it is safe for ANYONE (including Lollie) for her to just be rehomed. A thought just popped into my head. Have you had her vet checked? She may have some (treatable) problem. But if she doesn't and she's just this aggressive...then I'm just saying that maybe it would be best for all involved if she was pts peacefully in the arms of the family who loves her. |
My question is also not meant to be rude, but why didn't you do something after the first and second one she killed! Why wait this long to do something about it? |

I was one of the first ones to read this post, but didn't reply in fear of being insensitive and mean. But I can't help myself, I need to say it. There have been many recent threads about other dogs killing yorkies and the general response was that these dogs needed to be pts. I have been in agreement with these opinions. Now that it is a yorkie that is doing the killing, it seems as though no one (besides maybe 3) have mentioned having this yorkie pts. I believe that any dog that kills other dogs needs to be pts regardless of breed or size. An aggressive dog will always be aggressive. It is terribly sad and depressing, but I believe it is the right thing to do. I can sometimes sympathize for the larger dogs because it doesn't take much to kill a smaller dog. Sometimes I wonder if the larger dog even intended to kill or if it was an accident. But a yorkie killing another yorkie?! ...and 3 TIMES!! It had to have been intentional, there is no way that would happen on accident. This yorkie was trying to kill, and succeeded. I am very sad that this happened. I would've never imagined such a thing. It's horrible. I am also appalled at the fact that this yorkie was allowed to stay in the family after the first killing; I find this irresponsible. |
Where do you live in Illinois? I am in Northern Illinois, Grayslake/Gurnee area. |

Pts Most of you know I have lived with many Yorkies..raised many and cared for many belonging to others. Most Yorkies who get in fights, bite, snap, grab a mouth full of hair or a leg and draw a bit of blood..then back off..one who kills is beyond help..you can never trust them. |
[QUOTE=diggy4;1983601]wow in reading this it seems almost unreal!!!! I have never heard of dogs killings dogs in ANY terrier breed???? Skye Terriers are known for this too??? Im just in awe...... Pit bulls are terriers. If it was a pit bull that did this, everyone would be saying to put her down. I don't think it matters what the breed is. If the dog has killed another animal it cannot be trusted. |

I respectfully disagree. That simply has not been my experience with most of the cases I've dealt with. |
Yorkies ...if Yorkies were the size of Dobermans they would be the most feared breed on earth...the thing is, they think they ARE the size of Dobies...LOL |
