| ![]() Hi everyone, We are currently in the research phase of getting a Yorkie pup. We would appreciate any info that you all may have. A bit about us: We had a lovely beagle (Bella) who died last summer at age 10 after a lengthy illness We have 3 children (9, 7, 5 1/2) who are good with animals We have a 10 month old cat I work part-time around my husband's schedule so someone is usually home. A puppy would not be left alone for more than 4-5 hours at a time. We would love to get a Yorkie but want to really research this before bringing a puppy home. Also, the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America does not seem to have any local (Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island) affiliates or breeder referrals so I would like to get some reputable breeder referrals. I have seen Yorkies advertised from anywhere between $700 - 2000+ and would like to know what I should reasonably expect to pay a breeder for a healthy puppy. I don't want to support puppy mills. Any info that you have would be much appreciated. Thanks! ![]() |

| ![]() Welcome to YT!! How wonderful that you are doing your research 1st!! Sounds like a furbaby would definitely find love in your home. You may want to check our featured breeders forum for help. Are you open to shipping? I know some breeders do that.

| ![]() Hello and welcome to Yt. I think it is great that you want to do your research first, there are a lot of great breeders here so hopefully some of them will see this. I have found that the price all depends on the breeder and if the pups are show quality or pet quality, it seems the puppy's I have been seeing lately are between 1000 and 1500 but that does not mean you can not get a great puppy for less. The most important thing is finding a breeder that is more concerned about the puppy and not the money and make sure they offer a health grantee.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I see two YTCA breeders in New Hampshire and 4 in Massachusetts. They may not always have puppies all the time, but reputable breeders have fewer litters than puppy mill breeders so sometimes you do have to wait. I am so glad you want to find a quality breeder. Perhaps you could interview some and see what they suggest. Here's a link: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club. I personaly would be worried about buying from a breeder that I haven't met, and checked out throughly. Good luck with your search.
