| New Baby Question? Hi everyone!! I haven't been on in awhile but I have some exciting news!!! Precious and Mommy are getting a new baby girl, she will be Precious niece!! Her name is going to be Miss Patience GiGi. My question is do you think 5 weeks old maybe a little young for a plane ride? The puppies are due May 29th and we are planning on returning home with her on the 30th of June. I probably already know my answer but just thought I would get some feedback from my yorkie friends. My thing is I have to change my flight plans which will be pricy, but if I have to it will be worth it. The breeder will not ship her puppies and she normaly doesn't let them go until they are 8 weeks, but said she would let her go at 6 weeks, so I am probably pushing it with her for an extra week. Thanks for any input!!! |

| I would think that 5 weeks is way too young to be separated from momma much less a plane ride. These little ones need extra care. Even big dogs and cats need to be with momma longer than 5 weeks. I would wait minimal of 8 weeks if you have another at home for them to "teach" them the ropes otherwise longer. JMO. Congratulations on you new baby.

| Hi neighbor!! Yes, most definitely 5 weeks is too young for the plane, as it's waaaaaaaaaaay tooooo young to be taken away from it's momma. Really they should not ever leave their mothers until at least 10-12 weeks. 8 weeks is too young too. They need that socialization time and time to grow up with their mom and litter mates. This is when they learn to be independent and learn to be a good dog. Your inconvenience should be nothing to wanting to bring home a healthy, well-adjusted pup. And when you bring her home you'll have to join our Central Iowa Yorkie Meetup group!! Hey, and do you know about next mth?? The big 1st International YorkieTalk Meetup down in KC - here's the info on that http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/off...up-2008-a.html

| New Baby Question Thanks for all of your input, as for the question, are these puppies AKC, yes they are! As of right now we will not be bringing her home, to many bridges to cross to get her here and I would never do anything to jeopardise a little yorkies life. |
