| Street stuff and paper does your baby try and eat anything and everything off the street when you walk him or her. Or is my crazy man the only one who picks up sticks and leaves and anything he can get his mouth on? He also eats paper whenever he can get to it, like paper towel or tissue or even a receipt from a purchase. Oy. |

| My two senior girls just sniff everything but their noses never touch it. Now my two boys are an entirely different story. I'm just thankful when they find a stick to carry. That means I can relax for a moment, only a moment, though.

| Hot Rod loves going after the dead worms on the ground (Yuk, I have to get them out of mouth) and he always goes after duck poo, another Yuk! He likes little sticks too.

| Both of mine are awful they will eat anything on the ground ...sails, worms, slugs, rollypollys. Faith will even try to roll in things if I'm not quick enough. Yuck

| My two do the same thing...and I only walk them in the yard. A dead worm is a wonderful delicacy; sticks are fun to chew on, and so are pine cones and pecans. Juju loves to dig tiny holes to look for small acorns. Now, their new trick is to go into this little area I made that has rocks and sea shells and 'shop'. At first it was small shells...now Betty has graduated to huge ones that she can barely carry. When she gets one, she wants to go in the house immediately before I take it away from her. There are seashells everywhere!

| Another thing Nico does is he loves to eat tissues, paper towels and anything paper he can find in the house. The other day he was finding tissues all over the house, little did I know he was taking them out of my sweater pocket. You can't imagine the stuff I see i his poop. |

| Oh yes! Meeko loves to pick up things on our walks. I'm constantly saying Leave it, no Meeko come on. The people in my complex must think I'm crazy.

| My boys have to explore and sniff EVERYTHING! They're not bad about picking things up, thank goodness. When Jake was a puppy, he would try to get toilet paper off the roll. He would get a hold of it and run, making a nice, long trail.

| My Barclay from day one would charge anything on our walks, didn't matter what it was, paper, straws, a dandelion was snapped into his mouth as quick as you could blink and he would chomp it in one second flat. I got so frustrated with going out for potty that I dreaded it. . .all his trash picking distracted him from pottying. I asked my vet and she suggested a small muzzle. I was shocked! There was no way I was putting a muzzle on him. So I brainstromed and found a small squishy ball. The kind that humans use as stress balls to squeeze in their hand when they get stressed out. Anyways, when I am ready to take him outside I say to him, Barclay where's your ball. He runs to the door, sits and waits. We go through the struggle of putting on the leash, but he waits for me to get the ball. Immediately he jumps to put it in his mouth and out the door we go for our walk. He keeps that ball in his mouth for our complete walk. And walk he does!!! No running and chasing anything that moves or shines on the street. I keep the ball with his leash and he only gets it for walks. Try it, it worked for me. . .best thing is he does his poops and peeps with the ball in his mouth and no more picking up trash!!! Hope it works for you too! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, I always have to chuckle when I read that dogs are carnivorous, and should only eat meat because that's what they would do in the wild. Joey would pretty much eat anything, although slugs are a favorite. One of the first things he learned is "drop it", and he nearly always obeys, if it isn't too tasty, but sometimes the cotton balls are so irresistible.

Yorkie Yakker | i'm glad i'm not the only one that goes thru this nonsense. first of all, Moses LOVES paper. toilet paper, paper towels, receipts, my little brother's homework....its so ridiculous. i have to sneak & clean up areas because he'll try & snatch the paper towel out of my hand & run off under the sofa to lazily chew on it. as for walks, he's SLOWLY gotten better about not eating everything in sight. but when i take him outside for potty, he'd much rather eat grass & bark at frogs than focus on the task.
