Abby is the same exact way. I have to sit right behind her and watch her eat and then half way I have to move all the food n the middle like a lil tower. If I dont she will look at me and just sit and stare as if saying please move my food so that I can eat LOL. And if I am not there for feeding time she refuses to eat!!! These furbutts I tell you... ![]() ![]()

| I never did get into any "ritual" at meal time. I fix it, put it down and walk away. If they don't show an interest in eating, I take it up and save till the next meal time. We have no problems at meal time because of this and all three are little chow hounds anyway. |

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | LOL, I just have to get my husband to read from this site....When we brought Max home and transitioned from the can food to dry food, he did not like it, so I would seat on the floor next to him and feed him, ...2 1/2 years latter....I'm still seating on the floor feeding Max every morning, sometimes if I don't have time to seat and wait, and he just wont eat.I leave his food out all day, is that OK?The vet told me to take it back after 30min.if he has not eaten by then, does not matter, next time he'll be hungry enough and wont waste time

| I had a similar problem too, when I switched brands on my dog. The only time he would eat it was when I would toss it on the ground. I got scared that he would get used to it, so I stopped doing it, so he stopped eating. I figured that he probably didn't like the food, so I switched brands again, and now he's back to normal. Thank good, because feeding him 3 kibbles at a time was very time consuming! |

| I think I am the worse "ritual" feeder here. It got to the point that I have to finger feed my little guy. Either we eat our meal with him at the same time or I would have to finger feed him. In the morning, I usually prepare his food first and then cook mine later on so I am not able to eat with him hence finger feeding.

| I must admit I also finger feed my Bobo. It all started when he became sick from a liver shunt, he would not eat and now sometimes he still doesn't like to eat. My family thinks I am nuts. What can you do? Tammy |

| Jake was like that when he was a puppy. If I left the kitchen, he would follow me. I would just say "go eat", and he would eventually go back into the kitchen. I didn't want him to feel like he could only eat in the kitchen if I was there, so I got into the routine of putting his food down and walking away. Jackson, on the other hand, wouldn't care if I left the country, much less the room, because he is a chow hound.

| Lexie and Tucker would rather me not watch. If I'm in the room they think there must be more amusing activities in store and they will wait to eat. I have trouble getting Lexie to eat and sometimes I get so excited that she's eaten a good portion only to find out Tucker was extra hungry Oh well, I always get it down her one way or another. Oh and what Archie said: Quote:
