you know i got my baby from i guess what's called a backyard breeder, but she had yorkie's for $350 so i called when i spoke with her she seemed very knowledgable but she referred to the puppies she had for $350 as ugliest in the litter but i said being a breeder she is shooting for certain standards so i would come see what she had. when i arrived she had 4 puppies in the house 2 as she said were her ugly ones 2 were her beautiful ones. the ugly ones had slightly longer legs but cute not to say the 2 other ones "were" beautiful but to me they were to small they weighed about 2 lbs. and cost a whole lot more. But you know i took an ugly one home with me but to me he is beautiful like i said he is 5mos old tomorrow and weighs 5 lbs now. since i only paid $350 for him she would not give me papers (said she did not register that litter) but it really doesn't matter to me i love him. he has a great personality and i get compliments all the time of how beautiful he is and you know they are right!! |
Bella Bella is 14 months and weighs approx. 5.5 pounds depending on the day and if the days food is to her liking. She does have long legs too. Shes just so cute and huggable.:D:aimeeyork |
I don't think the size will matter to me...of course the very small yorkies are very cute and you have to be very careful with them cuz they very easy to get hurt.. Im very happy with what i have..Ginger is about 9 lbs and Charlie 5 1/2...Both very healthy |
From my experience with my two...your little guy shouldn't get much heavier. Mine both were pretty much full weight by 6 months. |
He is 2 yrs old and he is been 5 1/2 lbs for a while...he was a hard gainer when he was a bby ..Your pups are very cute btw Quote:

Molly is 15lbs and adorable! She is very fit and healthy..she can outwalk and outrun me any day! I guess some yorkies are just meant to be bigger. I had to take her on the london underground last week and she was as good as gold.(had to carry her on the escalator and throught the barriers of course) I wonder how i ever managed without her. |

My pup is about 5.5 pounds at three months. :D I prefer larger yorkies to the "teacups"... They're sturdier and seem a bit less frail health-wise. My Ollie can already jump on and off the couch without me feeling like I have to worry about him hurting himself. |
We have two. They are from the same pair, but different litters. The older one, Bailey, is about 6 1/2 pounds, and at that she always looks very little to me. Her younger sister, Meggie, is a bit over 7 pounds. We saw both of the parents when we chose Bailey, so we had a pretty good idea what to expect. I really don't remember, but I think they were both up to about 5 pounds by the time they were 6 months old. Everyone has their own preferences, but my wife and I have moved from initially thinking we would like to have had smaller Yorkies to now being very glad they aren't really tiny. Ours are big enough to play with vigorously, but they still look pretty small to us - and most other people. Of course, I think they're perfect, but if I had to choose again and the choice was limited to either bigger than our two or smaller than our two, I'd definitely go with larger. |
My Little man is 8.5 Pounds. I love every ounce of him. ;) His Mom was 6 pounds and his Dad was 4 pounds. |
Jezebel weighted 5.2 lbs at 6 months. She is now 13 months and weighs 7.5 lbs. With n the last 2 months she really hit s growth spurt. She is smally in size but chunky for 9 inches long. |
My Babies.. My chucky is 2 1/2 lbs at almost 3 years old, my New baby (no name yet) is 7 months and about a little under 4 so I'm guessing she will be around 5-6 lbs. |
Tucker at almost 3 months old weighs 2.5 pounds. His parents were both in the 4 pound range, however Im guessing my little guy is gonna be closer to 6. |
My Teddy is exactly 2 pounds at age 4 months. The breeder thought he would reach about 3 pounds full grown so we'll see. |
Kingston is 7 months and weighs 7 lbs :) |
My yorkie stayed at 4.2 pounds for 1 year 3 months, then he went stopped at 6.1 pounds, lol. |
Maci went to vet today 4 months and 4lbs...no leg growth yet..tummy will be draggen the ground!!!..:yorkiesarShort and STOUT! Might have a teapot! I'm too scared when they are tiny...Makes me worry too much! |
My babies My two gals are 1 1/2 years old and weigh 5 1/2 lbs, the other gal is 3 years old and 6 - 6 1/2 lbs. Both are healthy and happy, and my life would never be complete without them. My 3 year old is spade due to mild luxating patellas, my 1 1/2 year old is absolutely perfect, i will be having her spade after the holidays. I love it when they spin in circles because they are so excited to go out for a walk, or go to the kitchen and get treats. They are just so adorable. |
Bailey is 11+ I kept thinking Bailey would top out around 9 lbs. Then 10. Now he is around 11 lbs and I think that is it. We watch his diet and actually started feeding him "old dog" food even though he is does not fall into the Old nor is he a dog. People keep telling me he IS a dog but they don't know Yorkies fall into a completely different category.... something closer to "kids" (which are neither human or beast) The reason for the "old dog" food is it is lower in fat and we mix a little of the canned with low-fat dry. We completely stopped feeding him from the table. He was exhibiting symptoms of pancreatitis (throwing up and generally not feeling well) As soon as we stopped the table food the symptoms went away. He eats a super premium canned + dry. So, having given up on the mini version we are more than happy with our 4 year old big guy. Way more to love.:kiss4: bye all, samc and Bailey |
My babies Larkin is 7lbs, Diesel is 6lbs, and their baby Lily is 2.7lbs at almost 12 weeks. I'm guessing she will be about the size of Diesel. My two boys in the litter are about a pound heavier so I think they will be the size of their Mama Larkin! When I first received Larkin (as a bday present last year), I was not very happy that she was "big"....she was about 4lbs at 13 weeks. She is now 21 months old and is perfect for us! Diesel was 2lbs when we got him at 9 weeks old, he was about 4.5lbs at 6 months old, and then had another growth spurt before he turned one! Lily (born 10/1/08) is going to be our new addition and we will truly have a Yorkie family! We are excited to see how big she will get and who's coloring she will take!!!!!!!! :D |
My babies Diamond is 2 1/2 years old and weighs 7 lbs. Destiny is 1 year old and weighs 12 lbs and my lil Dj is 4 months and is about 5 lbs. |
My Penny is up to 15 lbs now! I love her size-- my fiance and I really like hiking and stuff, and it is great to have a dog who can keep up for miles and miles, and is large enough that we don't need to worry about her becoming too cold when we are at high altitudes and run into snow. :) I picked the biggest pup in her litter of rescued babies, and I'm very glad I did-- one of her brothers, who was far smaller, wound up having a shunt. He thankfully improved after surgery to correct it, but it was still sad and stressful for the family that adopted him. |
Dante started of at 5.5 ounces at birth and now at 16 months he is 11lbs. Leo was 6.5 ounces at birth and now at 16 months he is 7.2 lbs friday is currently 8 1/2 months and has been at 4lbs since 6 months. If she grows more or doesn't it is fine either way. She is tougher at 4lbs. than Dante is at 11lbs. |
My Harry boy is 10 pounds and my little Prada is 6 months and she is 6.5 pounds already.. hugs, cArmen in nj |
My baby boy is 15lbs already and he won't be one year old until Jan. 27th, 2009. I wouldn't want him to be any smaller, he is just way too cute. |
Suri will be 6 months old on the 29th of December, this week she weighed in at a amazing 1 pound 14 ounces! We picked the bigger girl out of the litter and she ended up being the smallest. I could have swore she grew, but her weight has only changed ounces. (like 2). When we first got her we estimated her weigh at about 4-4.5 but now I have no clue...but I'm happy she is a healthy little girl :) |
Chester was only 4 or 5 lbs at 6 months if that, and now at a little over 6 yrs old he is 9 lbs, he just started growing at a later time. |
Twinkle is six months and weighs 8lb. I'm not sure if she'll get any bigger. She has quite a petite frame so she could afford to put on a little more without being fat:D xx xxx |
Yorkie Size My Carter is 8 months, and his current weight is 7lb and 14" inches long. What is the average body lenth because I have been told that he is very long for a yorkie, but he is the love of my life. |
