| ![]() Wow, I sure hope you are able to get this resolved. Definitely praise her when she is at her best...ignore her at her worst. But the guarding/growling has to stop...or it will snowball. She has to understand whatever it is she guards is yours to give her and yours to take away from her. But by all means be gentle, you don't want to scare her. Keep your voice, your body actions and your mind calm. Be patient with her, she'll eventually get it...she'll find out what pleases you for the praise...what displeases you by ignoring her behavior. She's a smart cookie...but give her time and of course give her space. Sometimes simply walking away from her is all you'll need to do, or gently coax her to you and away from whatever she's guarding. Gosh, good luck. Maybe a visit to the vet is in order...just to be certain she's not hurt or ill.

| ![]() Am I understanding correctly that this behavior started after the episode at the groomer's a year ago? It sounds like she was traumatized so she started the guarding thing, and that behavior went on for a long time, and now it is getting more out of control with the more aggressive behavior and biting. Have you had her to the vet during this time, and have you mentioned it while there? If not, I would talk to the vet first and see what they recommend. I would first want to rule out any medical issues that could be causing her behavior. If it's nothing medical, then I would check into training for her. Good luck!!
