I wanted it really short and when i went to pick him up they had cut nothing off the his back just cut around his face and his paws and his ears an stuff.. i was a little upset as he still looked a bit raggy an i wanted his coat short! I asked them why they has not cut any off his back and they told me that it wud ruin his coat is this true?? I dont want to ruin his lovely coat? They also told me he could have nothing cut off the back of his coat till he was 9 months old and to come bk in 10weeks for a trim. Its just been 4 weeks and he looks like he need a trim now as his hair is in his eyes and it really looks like he needs a touch up? how ofter do u get ur yorkies cut? At what age can he have his coat short? If i get it done before hand will it ruin his coat? Thanks

| I'm not really sure about this. i had chewy cut as a pup, around 6 months old. he has a cotton coat. sadie has a silk coat as far as I can tell and her hair grows slowly so I have never cut her hair. I can't wait to see what others think of your question.

| Puppy Cut I took Derby to the groomer as soon as he had completed all of his puppy shots. I was so excited because he was really scrappy looking. I asked for the Puppy Cut which is a rather short trim. My co-worker also has a yorkie but he is 4yrs old and she likes his hair REALLY short. So the groomer asked if I wanted it that short or left with a tiny bit of length to it which is the true Puppy Cut. I decided that I had all the time in the world to cut it super short so I opted for the true Puppy Cut which I loved cuz it left him just a wee bit scrappy which goes well with his personality. My groomer never eluded to the fact that that may ruin his coat she just wanted to be sure I wanted it that short. You may want to take your puppy to another groomer for another opinion. I asked several friends before I decided on the groomer that I went to. Good Luck!

| My groomer told me that if I cut Ranger's coat when he was about six months than it would grow in nicer and thicker. I get him groomed every five weeks, which seems to be a good amount of time in between. Good luck but where are pictures????

| I take Jake every couple of weeks to be trimmed up. He likes to go out in the woods with me so I can't have his hair long. He is a very active and curious dog outside. I keep him in a puppy cut so that it is easier for me to keep him brushed good. He also LOVES the groomer I take him to and every other Saturday morning he is chomping at the bit to go see her. She is absolutely wonderful. I may take him too much but he seems really happy with his grooming schedule and since he has started going and seeing her every 2 weeks, he absolutely loves for me to brush him now. Before, it was a pain in the rear to brush him. Last edited by jfor; 04-22-2008 at 07:16 AM. |
