I took Derby to the groomer as soon as he had completed all of his puppy shots. I was so excited because he was really scrappy looking. I asked for the Puppy Cut which is a rather short trim. My co-worker also has a yorkie but he is 4yrs old and she likes his hair REALLY short. So the groomer asked if I wanted it that short or left with a tiny bit of length to it which is the true Puppy Cut. I decided that I had all the time in the world to cut it super short so I opted for the true Puppy Cut which I loved cuz it left him just a wee bit scrappy which goes well with his personality. My groomer never eluded to the fact that that may ruin his coat she just wanted to be sure I wanted it that short. You may want to take your puppy to another groomer for another opinion. I asked several friends before I decided on the groomer that I went to. Good Luck!
