| Who Will Care For Our Pets When We Are Gone I thought this was a very interesting and informative thread if something happens to the caregiver. I had a couple of Yorkies come into rescue after the caregiver passed away and their children who promised they would take care of the dogs did not want the dogs. We also see Yorkies end up in rescue because there were no plans made for these little ones. Best Friends Animal Society - No More Homeless Pets Forum: Who Will Care for Our Pets When We're Gone?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | When we made up our wills last year I specified 2500 for each dog I have at the time of my death to go with each dog to the new owner for expenses. My dtr woudl take Cali and she knows wo contact YT to find homes for any of the others if my family cannot take them. It is scary to think about.

| My MIL who is the biggest dog lover and 71 yrs old, will not get another dog because she's so afraid nobody will take care of it if something happens to her. Bless her heart. But, she has lots of grand dogs that we take to her to baby sit. Josie, my SIL's maltese that lives right behind MIL, barks at the back door and my SIL says, "do you want to go to Grandma's?", the she'll let Josie out and Josie will run to my MIL's house and scratch at the front door until Grandma lets her in.

| Cindy---Excellent post (as usual). I have spoken with my family about taking my little ones if something should happen to my husband and me. Their responses were "Of course we would take Edie and Breezy. They are part of the family!" But it is worth formalizing the agreement, I think, with a will. |

| In our Wills, my husband and I have designated my sister as cared taker of our girls, and in the event of her death preceding ours, my nieces will care for our girls and we have alloted $10,00. for each of our girls care. I am grateful they love our fur-kids so much that they want them, and I don't want them to be a financial burden. Sheila |
